Flooded Car At Body shop

Anyone ever deflood a car themselves? I need help because they cannot figure out how to deflood my car with the instructions given here...

G_ man 09-13-2013 04:15 PM

If it's a manual pull tow start it,it's the easiest way if battery is drained from cranking

Neo 09-13-2013 04:18 PM

Ouch. That sucks. Didn't the upgrade starter help fix this issue?? Or is this still ongoing regardless of generation?

G_man,

Sadly hers is an automatic.

I think the instructions is to pull the spark plugs, take the fuses out for the pump and what not, and start cranking her over. Try to get rid of all the excess fuel out of the chambers. Once you see enough fuel come out, reinsert the plugs and try to give her a go.
I think that's about the only thing you can do to an automatic 8???

Automatic.

Didn't get that Neo.

Best Bet,

Charge Battery, Hold gas to the floor, crank for 5 seconds, wait 10, repeat. Pause is to no overheat starter. Foot to the floor disables fuel delivery to help deflood (that was they way you de-flooded a carbureted car, foot to floor opened automatic choke).

When it starts, keep it running, fast idle, 1,500 or so RPM.

Then, change coils, and maybe plugs. Plugs fouled because coils died.

Did you take your car to the shop and the technician working there flooded your car?

YES! Sucks shit. I am not going to charge them as the work done was a warranty repair. I am going to try the fuse method.

Man Up Leesha!!

Crank it like you own a battery shop!

What 04Green said, always worked for me.

We don't give up until that starter just clicks, then MAYBE it's spark plug pullin' time, (doesn't help much, bt gives you something to do while the battery is on the charger.)

Did you ever do that tune up you where talking about awhile ago?

alnielsen 09-14-2013 07:07 AM

In ten years of owning the car, I've flooded it twice. The official Mazda de-flood procedure always worked.

04Green 09-14-2013 08:42 AM

Thought process when car does not fire the first second....

Oh my God, I am going die
I wonder when I changed the coils..... Crap...
Foot to the floor (track mode)
Whew, that stinks (always inside the garage)
Note to self, it has been about 30,000 miles, order stuff from work, do the kids eat this month, or do I finally get a BHR Ignition....

At this point, I'd like to chime in THIEF and several others from the forum that had seen my "laminated" instruction sheet which I created for a body shop technician specifically preventing an occurence like this, 4 years ago, and laughed at its ridiculousness at that time....

Not so ridiculous now is it??? In the words of Nelson Munn from Simpsons "HA ha..."

Sure does lol... Felt like I died went to hell then resurrected into heaven. :D:

One question though. Do I need to do my plugs now? The car was driving fine afterwards but just recently I'm having hesitation problems. Lack of speed...

FOOTMAN:

I want that sheet! Send me a copy. :)

Thing is, the techs are gonna look at it and go "TL;DR" and leave it at that. That's why when I took my car in for an e-test at crappy tire, I told them 3 times not to shut it off cold, or THEY will need to pay for the replacement spark plugs and coils.

wcs 10-01-2013 03:03 PM

Sell it, now.

Leesha 10-22-2013 02:28 PM

Car is fine now. Probably bad gas. No pun intended. Not selling. Ever.... :)
