enthusiast auto mechanics course

Hi All,

I live in Richmond Hill and have been trying to find a auto mechanics course to help me know more about the inner workings of cars and ideally the rotary (which I'm sure is a stretch). I want to build on my basic skills and be able to take apart and and reassemble the various systems in the car.

I can't seems to find anything in Toronto or Richmond Hill that isn't for people looking to be professional mechanics. I could only consider committing a night or 2 a week. The pro courses are much more frequent.

Hope you all have some useful suggestions. Thanks is advance.

Most auto mechanics programs do not include the rotary engine.

I took a quick look and couldn't find anything for amateurs... courses are 5 days a week for people looking to be a mechanic. Did I miss something?

Take a look at your local school boards' continuing education program. My husband and I recently took a course at a local high school in Ottawa - one night a week for five weeks, and we learned all the basic diagnostic and maintenance functions. And since the instructor demonstrated on the students' cars, a lot of us got some work done for nothing more than the cost of parts and supplies. Plus he let us in on the secret of where to buy parts at wholesale prices, with an extra discount for having been his students. It was well worth the $75 cost of the course!

chantl01, I'm from Ottawa too. Can you let me know where to buy parts at wholesale prices? And where was this course? Thanks!

Looks like I'm out of luck... reach out to the school board and they suggest a couple schools but after reaching out to those schools they had no intentions to run any auto mechanics courses.

:(
