Dammit

I was driving to work yesterday after I got my car back from the body shop. They added the Mazda speed kit and it looks great considering all the work it took to put on .

I hear a squeaking sound and think to myself that maybe the package just needs to settle a little bit.

On my way back home from work the sound gets even louder. So before getting on the HWY I decided to pull over and check out what was going on.

I put the car in neutral and starting rocking it back and fourth ... The squeaking sound was coming from the wheel well.

I then looked at the tire and the wheel lock nuts weren't tightened. They were on the first or second strip of the screw.

ONe of them was bolted on each wheel in the back.

I called back the auto place and ripped them a new one......

Pete: I don't know what to say..... :(
You got lucky this time! Wheel offs are not fun.

Since your car seems to be in the shop a lot (no fault of your own), here's some advice. Trust no one w/your car, and always go over your car with a fine tooth comb when you pick it up so you can rip them a new one in person. It's also good to do this as a safety consideration for yourself just in case it something major (as it was this time)

I know all of this now...... You can't trust anyone anymore.... Better off doing what you can do yourself.

I'm very observant when it comes to this kind of stuff now .

NVMYGT May 18, 2005 08:50 AM

Glad to hear you weren't hurt. I hope their new one hurts.

HELAS May 18, 2005 09:32 AM

OMG that is horrible. It's just good that you had the common sense to pull over and check it out. People are A$$HOLE$ Glad to here everything is alright.

Pete May 18, 2005 09:35 AM

I was thinking about checking it when i got home ..... but something told me to stop and check it out .

rotten42 May 18, 2005 10:42 AM

Pete you have all the luck...bad luck that is.

BlueFrenzy May 18, 2005 09:37 PM

Whoa sorry to hear about the wheels. That is crazy dangerous! Imagine if the Mazda mechanics were so negligent. I think you should stop seeing these body shop guys ... aren't these the same guys that backed up a truck into your MS kit after it was installed?

Pete May 19, 2005 07:42 AM

These guys were not the same body shop that first installed my MS kit .

This is what they had to say ....

"Hi Peter,

I have spoken to Frank and believe me when I say that he has taken this matter very seriously. It will be taken care of as this is something very uncharacteristic of 427 and hurts our great reputation. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience and anything we can do to help, don't hesitate to contact either myself or Frank directly.
Take care and we'll talk soon"

I'll be contacting them alright . My alignment is wayyyyy off.

Wing May 19, 2005 11:53 AM

I've heard good things about 427

Pete,

I'm glad you caught that early. This is insane man. Consider seeking out other garages man.

Good to hear nothing serious happened pete to bad I cant say the same for my car. About a 1 Month and a half ago my Front Left Wheel Came off luckily I was on a 40 zone area and pulled to the side before my disc's got a chance to rub on the pavement. Its frustrating when you bring your car in to a shop hoping that there going to help you yet all they do is cause more problems. The garage didnt want to take responsibility claiming it was my fault that someone tried to steal my rims which isnt true because i had that same sqeaking sound since it left the garage.

Pete May 21, 2005 11:09 AM

Thanks Everyone ,

Mikey ,

Was there any damages to the Rim or alignment ?

mikey8 May 21, 2005 10:49 PM

Luckily i didnt give it a chance to because i pulled to the side so quickly it didnt allow anything to get damaged all that happened was my rim was slightly scratched on the inside, but just to make sure i brought it to a shop that knows what there doing to check out my brakes and the rim and they just re balanced it to make sure nothing was wrong and i told them to move to the back instead just incase, because i would rather have the back go then the front.
