Could be new owner.

I'm looking to buy a 2005 RX-8 in the coming weeks, and after reading all about the good of the car, I was just wondering the bad. I know that the gas eats through you pocket like a wife, and winter tires are a must, but is there anything else?

how long do the summer tires normally lasts, and how about the clutch? My last stick-shift was a sunfire (don't laugh), and I went through clutches every 80K (I'm rough on my cars).

How good are Mazda parts such as pumps, a/c, and other components? I dont mind paying good money for a car, but I don't want to be spending $2000 a year fixing stuff when it's 4 years old.

Thanks for any help.

Brian

the RX8 itself is a very reliable car, just like nez said.. check da engine oil level once in a while and make sure the car is warmed up b4 you shut it off other than that I haven't seen any big issues!!!

If you are looking for a very practical fun unique sports car to drive the RX8 is perfect.

No it is not an economy car, and yes it has some unique characteristics that you must be mindful about such as checking the oil and making sure the car is warmed up prior to shutting it off.

The major challenge with the car that many of us have developed is an ultra heavy right foot. That for some have developed the need for radar detectors.

The conclusion. Man it is a fun car to drive. I have had the Black Dragon since Late 2003. I have enjoyed every moment I have driven it and still do.

I Have What You Are Looking For.

I currently own a 2005 RX-8 GT. I just started working for Oakville Mazda the phone # is 905-827-4242. (ask for DAVE in SALES) Whenever you want to test drive one call me to set an appointment. I live in Dundas and you have probably seen mine driving around town. It's RED and I have every dealer accessory and have done several upgrades to mine and even put chrome 20's on it. I will give you an amazing deal...

Dude - the rims look pretty sweet.
What size tires do you have for those 20's? Any problems with clearance?
Can you attach a larger photo of your ride....
