condensation in the rear lights

I picked up my car about a week ago, everyone know's how cold it's been in Toronto since then... but I was hanging around the Tim Horton's parking with my new car, when my cousin noticed some condensation on corners of my rear lights. I usually park the car in my garage but it isn't heated or anything. I'm not tooooo concerned yet, but if the moisture gets on the bulbs, that might SUCK.

Anyone else?

Mine had condensation in the rear lights corners like yours. I would see it late at night. then water bubbles were inside the front headlights. after about 2 weeks they both stopped. Kinda strange but true.

ok..... sure you're not from Canada, but you still experienced the problem no? I'm assuming it was an extreme weather condition thingy, and hopfully it will just go away.

I hate those "hope it goes away" solutions, cuz if you have a warranty, that answer is totally unacceptable It's usually these types of things that you find AFTER the warranty has expired and then they want to charge to repair it.

I did a search on "condensation" and it didn't turn anything up... let me try something else. But at least you're telling me that this is a known fixable problem.

there are tons of threads on it, I even posted one a few days after I bought the car.

seriously, it wasn't an extreme weather thing. I was parked in SF, it probably dropped to 48 degrees and it was about 9 PM and the edges of the tail lights were all fogged on the inside. Afew days later the headlights (both) had a ton of water inside.

It never happened since. I mean even under identical conditions. Dont ask me, lol.

hmm try putting a fan heater in front of your lights over night? (not too close in case it discolours your plastics)
in my old truck I used to be able to just remove the bulb and stick a hairdryer near the opening for about 10 mins and it's all gone.
but yea if you can replace the whole thing with warrenty, why not? =)

There's another recent post that suggested the headlamp and taillamp housings are vented (and provided a link to the UK RX-8 club's site where this has been an item for discussion, if my memory's still working).

I've noted the same thing with my 8.

Cheers

The thread is in the Tech Garage, under the heading "Moisture in the Headlights"
