Cold Air Intake Questions
Hello Fellas,
Was hoping you guys could help me out with a couple things, Is it advisable to only use the mazdaspeed CAI? For quality? And most importantly, the warranty? Also does it have to be installed bya mazda dealer ? And finally (sorry) Where to get he best price on your recomended product. Thanks in advance, Greg |
sure...if the warrarty is a big concern go with MS....quality-wise is won't loose to those like AEM and injen.
as for where to get the product, try khan motorsports he has really good prices, and he's local. he is also one of our sponsors. |
I think the MS CAI and the first generation exhaust are AEM products.

yep, you're right, but they still could argue it when you bring your 8 in the dealer. |
yes, but again, the dealership can only void your warrinty if they can prove the aftermarket part is the reason for the problem, and they wont void your entire car warrinty, just the intake warrinty
|
i have the K&N cai and it is great. does not void the warrantee and they (at the dealershit0 has never commented on it other then complimenting her sound:D:
|
If you go to mazda.ca and try to build your own 8 you have the option of adding the MS cold air as part of the perf package so I guess MS CAI should not be an issue with the dealership
|
i know, but this warrenty topic could be argue-d till the end of time.
Nobody will ever know, i have had dealer not honor it, and dealer who don't mind after market parts. It's just like the arguement of " if FI could blow up my engine". You just never know what can happen, but the MS you will not have any problems warretny wise for sure. |
My dealer instaled my RB intake and exhaust no questions.
They liked the exhaust sound so much they were showing it off. They talked me into a MS intake on my new car for the warranty, so I guess my REVI intake will be in the classifieds soon. |
hey spigot the MS intake you are getting is that the cold air intake from MS?
|
Yeah....its part of the new 'performance package' ..MS CAI, rear spoiler,
front and rear rotary garnish, and Mazdaspeed6 wheels. I was in the dealership today, and figured with all the money I save by not having to pay for this stuff, I could add the MS suspension ..... I was lucky I got out of there. They wanted me to order the MS1000 Mazdaspeed RX-8 wheels $$$ |
Are you for sure for sure positive that the performance package comes with the Mazdaspeed 6 wheels? I saw tiny pictures of them on a photocopied page but its possible that they just grabbed a pic of "some wheels". I don't want the mazdaspeed 6 wheels. :(

I have the RB intake and exhaust, no problems from my dealer. They don't seem to care.

these are the ones 18x7.5 and heavier than the OEM RX-8 wheels http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/imag...alum_wh_lg.jpg |
I agree 100% with Stiptomylue. I brought my car for all the recalls and regular maintenaince to 2 different dealership and never had a problem or even a question... it's like saying that synthetic oils and bad for your engine.

Just received confirmation from Mazda this week that when the MS CAI is installed as part of the free Performance Package it will not void the warranty.
The MS CAI is manufactured by AEM so go ahead and mod it. Anyway the dealer still has to prove that your mod caused the issue before they deny warranty. That part of the Moss/Magnuson act in the US. |
Newb question. What are the benefits of adding the CAI mod? I'm assuming performance yet the rest of the items in the package are vanity related.
