Code Reader Help

Hey,

I need some help possibly. I got a CEL this morning. My car is running perfectly fine (did a couple low RPM WOT and a few redlines).

The only thing I noticed is when I started it up, it seemed to puff the odd time (literally puff out a bit of extra exhaust).

Any concerns?

It stayed solid. I tried everything I could to make it blink (i.e. to see if it is a misfire) and it would not blink.

I just got into work this morning, so it hasn't gone off yet.

Same thing has happened to me (without the puff of exhaust). Solid CEL, no blinking.

I did the whole tap the brake 20 times to reset the KRAM and SPAM (or whatever the hell they're called) and turned on the ignition while holding in the odometer button until it says "test" to reset whatever that's supposed to reset and the CEL still hasn't gone away.

Taking it in to Mazda today.

You can do what buddy above mentioned (tap break 20 times really quick) there is a thread on this. Personally would just disconnect the battery leave it off for at least 30 sec to a min and reconnect and try again. Disconnect the battery will clear the computer and then see if it comes back on. If it does, try the tap break technique and still on get it scanned or take it in.

My CEL comes on every once in awhile too. In fact, when I went to overtake someone the other day, it started blinking and didnt change gear until 7500 rpm. Weird. It's off now and the damned thing's dead at Scarborough Mazda so go figure.
