The car is just too cool all around, seriously.
PROS - Lines and curves found on cars worth 5-10 times its value - Cutting edge technology (Rotary) most automakers can not comprehend - Cutting edge design (true 4 doors 4 passenger 50/50 weight distributed sports car) which Rolls and Mercedes are going to introduce in the next 2 years - Vicious sounding at WOT - 6 gears and a 9500 RPM cut off - Dr Jekyl @ 9500 RPM, dragging and on the track while it becomes Mr Hyde cruising on city street or @ 80 mph on the highway - Can accomodate 4 adults and 2 set of golf clubs while a porsche of the same side can only handle 2 and no golf clubs - Sleek, sophisticated and very well priced - Most women and men (YOUNG AND OLD) instantly look at the car in awe and become attracted to it because it has a bit of everything that is desired in a car - People go out of their way to tell you how much they love the car that costs about as much as a loaded Jetta! - People can't stop staring at it from accross the street, beside you, in the parking lot and so on - You get more attention and respect with an 8 than you get from any other sports car because they know you are not trying to show off and you know that the car is not trying to be the fastest, and you are OK with that. RESPECT for making a good well thought out choice. - You can even drive the car in deep snow, no problem! CONS - A little too much of a pig on gas WHAT THE HELL IS BETTER THAN THIS? If it looks like a chick's car, so be it, but that is all part of the package and men and women alike are all interested in it. When guys in Camaro, TransAM and Mustang forums start asking each other if there is a way for them to put their beloved powerplants into the RX-8 somehow or if its been done before, you know they have acknowledged that the 8 is a fucking jewel and they made a mistake by buying a piece of junk which you can easily see from 100 feet away that it is poorly designed with huge gaps in body panels and poorly assembled. You buy these car for attention, but the reverse happens; they become a dime a dozen and people quickly classify you as a desperate fool buying these cheap exceuses for a sports car. I couldn't care less if these other cars are faster. The 8 is so much more enjoyable to drive. Boy do i feel better that I got that off my chest! Now, if you don't mind, I'll get back to work and day dream about driving the 8 as soon as its quitting time. |

Back when the 3rd gen came out, I remember hearing the same comments. I just think that Mazda designs their cars with styling that can attract both sexes. IMO, this is a good thing. :)

I think the same way, those are all the reasons why i made the choice to buy an RX8 2 months ago!!! And you're right for the price of gas, but no car is perfect!!! And a lot of other cars and trucks are a lot worse. |
Hey guys wasnt able to come on in the past few days, but its really amazing to see how this thread has expanded so much. I didnt see the guy driving a car so i can only assume he doesnt own one. I believe like everyone was saying that this was just a case of Jelousy I get this alot because ( I hope I dont get any heat from you guys) but I'm only 18. No one has to worry I'm not one of those stupid kids that races my Rx8 like an idiot I have experience with high end cars. Use to own a Nissan 350Z Convertible last summer still own it if anyone is looking to buy. Thanks for all the input everyone I love my Rx8 and the Rx8Club.

It must be a Canadian thing to truly appreciate what an absolutely stunning feat of engineering and design that Mazda put into this car. I can't imagine another car that looks as good and drives as well as the RX-8....and it truly is a "real world" car. The average Joe can afford to drive one! This clearly is why RX-8 owners have better taste, class and smarts than any other car buyers! :) |
