Check Engine Light Help!!

Hey guys,

With DSC/TSC on, 3/4tank gas, tight gas cap - I was racing a G35 on the 407 tonight. I went from 3rd (at 115km/h) to 9000 and up into 4th till about 180km/h; we then slowed for traffic. After that we accelerated from about 120 in 3rd up to 175 in 4th then I dropped it into 5th. I floored it some more to see if I could keep up in 5th. But the throttle bogged out and the CEL started blinking.

I let off and slowed and ran at only 120 for a bit. THen I tried to replicate the problem and got it a little later on the 404 as I accelerated at full throttle in 3rd again from 120 to 135 or so. The CEL blinked again for a couple secs and then went away.

A little further up I turned off the DSC/TSC and gave it from 110 in 3rd up to 190 in 5th and didn't have the problem at all.

What could my problem be?? I am gonna call Markham Mazda in the morning.

Thanks,
Juergen

p.s. - I had no trouble taking the G35 by a carlength at 175

The OPP installed large coils under the pavement, they energize them to cause significant electromagnetic interference when they detect people street racing ;-) Sounds like a misfire for some reason which is probably less than ideal at WOT, I would have the dealer pull the codes . . .

I pull 190 MP/h in my 8 all the time. Must be my 6 rotor engine.

lol, i dont know what the DSC/TCS could have to do with the check engine light, but it sounds like misfire.

Are you going to tell the dealer that this happened at XXX speed in 5th at WOT? lol

HELAS, I try to keep up to date with the police tech for traffic control (speed, ect) and I have not heard of such thing, other than experiments with shocking the cars metal chasie to screw with the EFI and stop a car in a pursuit.

It definately sounds like a misfire...I had it happen twice last winter before the snow hit.

The dealership can tell you right away after a diagnostics test.

As long as the light stopped blinking and didn't stay on solid you should be fine.
Just slow it down until the light stops blinking.

Was the engine warmed up when this happened?

The car was warmed up when I was on the highway. I had already been driving for about 40 minutes. 3/4 tank of gas too, mix of 91 and 94.

Markham Mazda has the car today so I'll update when I found out what caused the code.

Alright I heard back from Mazda just recently.

Apparently my car threw a code from a transient misfire. Caused by some sort of fluke. They said their shouldn't be any concern as it appears to be a one time deal. Of course if it comes back I should take in my car again.

Seems it was just a misfire for no reason.
