Cayuga Drag Results

Just thought people might be interested to hear how the Rx8 did, eventhough it is not a drag car.

It was a rough night, temps were about 22celsius. Teh track was really sticky early on but as outside temps dropped it got quite slick.

I struggled to get the 8 out of the blocks in a hurry. Consistently my 60foots were a mid-to-high 2.3; and yes I know I need to improve them to a 2.1 to pick up time at the end of the 1/4.

Anyways my best run was:
R/T = .239
60foot = 2.333
330feet = 6.511
1/8 time= 9.892
1/8 speed = 72.79
1000 foot = 12.796
1/4 time = 15.241
1/4 speed = 92.33mph

My best 60 foot was 2.315 so I thought I maybe lost my skills so I hopped into my buddy's M3 and without ever driving it before and turned a 2.19 60 foot.

What do other people use as a launch technique??

Is your car an auto?

I never got higher then 14.8 with my gs. what rpm are you launching at??

The Celica GTS and RSX-S are not drag cars either but they seem to pull better times then our cars. :(

please dont start dissing people with "is your car auto". If you have read this message board alot, (which it looks like you have, judging by your post total) Then you know that to get under the 15 second barrier is pretty tough.

Those look like some pretty good times for a first outing, with a better 60 foot, you most likely would have been in the 14.9 range.

The car is a 6spd manual. All my previous dragging experience was with FWD cars before. I had a fully built SR20 powered 2001 Sentra I took to Cayuga in the older days.

This was my first trip with the 8; and I can see i need to play around with launch techniques more to get the 60 foots down.

How do you launch DARKMAZ8??

I launch at 7000-7500 rpm and I feather the clutch. I then shift at the beep. My car is a gs though. If yours is a gt then you should also disable the tcs/dsc.

feathering the clutch at the launch is key. It helps minimize the wheelspin in first while keeping the car in its high rpm range. If you let off the clutch completely, you will spin too much and lose time.

BTW I'm sorry if I came across rude but I think if you learn how to drag this car properly, you won't be getting 15's ever again.

No problem Sean (i think we met at a meet?)?;

my experiences dragging aren't with this car so I still need to get used to it. I was feathering at lower RPM (about 4000), and tried some dropping around the same RPM's. I'll try your way next time.

Good thing clutches are inexpensive for 8's (lol)
