I think I've read that has happened to people before. Have you been in for the starter repalcement and hot plugs yet? If not, tell them you've been experiencing troubles with cold starts....I know in the US some batteries have been replaced but I'm not sure about Canada.

Post Trunk?

Did you leave the trunk cracked? That little light will do it....

...do you have any accessories that don't turn off? Radar?

How long are these "weekly drives" you take? If they're short, the electrical system may not have time to re-charge the battery completely after the draw from starting, so every time you're running the car you're using a bit of the charge and eventually there's not enough left to start the car.

This has alos happened to me Jynx . I stored the 8 and need to jump start it every time I do my monthly maintenance.
One of two things

- like mentioned above ... trunk was cracked open. light inside was on.
- It becasue it's so cold outside.

Best of luck !

Try using a trickle charger to keep the battery at full voltage between drives.

My weekly drives depending on the temp outside are for about an hour. Once i've been driving for about 30min I go find a highway on ramp and excercise the engine a bit

I still haven't been able to start it, gonna roll it down the driveway and use a F150 truck to try and start it I hope it starts! Thanks for the tips guys,

The drive sounds like it's long enough... but the cold and whatnot might have sapped the battery. How cold has it been in TO?

On a related topic, is it possible to push-start a rotary engine? Or does it maybe need to be moving faster than a piston engine does?

Mine would go dead if I didn't drive it for 2 weeks in the winter when I complained about it I got the recall work done which replaces the battery, starter and spark plugs. The battery now lasts over 2 weeks, haven't let it go longer than that but it starts easier than ever before. The new starter and battery turn the motor at least 2 times as fast as the old and easily starts after 2 weeks as well.

Some cars will not start by rolling and popping clutch without any charge in the battery they need a little bit of a charge, not sure if that is true of the RX8 but my guess is that it is true because the computer will not be able to send info needed for spark

All cars that are manual can be push started battery dead or not.
There's a little invention inside the engine compartment called an alternator that spins when the engine is spinning.
FYI: It's the same procedure as starting a piston engined car. Push it as fast as you can and then let the clutch out in 2nd gear. <- easier on the whole car
