Canadian TSB's?

Is there a site that specifically lists Canadian service bulletins. Mazda North America bulletins don't legally apply here due to climate as was explained to me by a Mazda Canada rep. This was before I had any problems with my 8. Now, at 40,000 k's, I have a bunch of problems that the dealer says Mazda isn't aware of.

stick a foot up your service managers butt

If you have access to a library, (like SAIT) you can get access through their affiliates, within Transporatation there is a database call ALLDATA which has all service bulletins, recall notices and any other relevant information for all vehicles. I have a full listing. There isn't anything new since Jan this year.

Nothing new??
Cracked transmission heat insulator (6sp)
Front air bag wiring.
Exhaust system melting nearby parts including FUEL TANK.
Cracked lower control arms.
My 8 has the first and third problems in this list among a couple of more minor ones. Presently, the dealer won't acknowledge them since these recalls only apply in the U.S.

Both the tranny and Air bag were Canadian recalls with specific VIN ranges in 2003/04. If your car is not in the VIN ranges...it doesn't need fixing. The new recalls will likely apply here as well...in specific VIN ranges like in the States...

We are always late to get TSB's. I was told my Mazda Canada that it takes a little longer to translate to french. How much of that is true I'm not sure. However all TSB's posted in the US apply here. I have had the first and second one your list above done and will likely have the last two. If you don't get your notices by the end of August call Mazda Canada, they can be pretty helpful if you know how to push thier buttons.

Interesting. I was told that TSB's in the US do NOT apply here by my dealer. What to do?
Obviously they are trying to pass the buck.

Don't worry...they WILL show up here. The network in Canada is even more disorganised than Mazda US. This recall started in Japan..It will be coming here too............

"What to do?"

Go to another dealer . . . Some dealers just don't want to service the car for some reason and it's not universal. The whole thing is bazaar and I have never encountered this with any other car brand. The original dealer I got the car from in Brampton was very good and still proactively calls me about recalls and stuff. Two dealers in Ottawa didn't know about the Special Service Program 61 for cold starts and wouldn't do the firmware upgrade as per the recall. One Service Manager outright lied to me about the existence of the recall yet another confirmed it by referencing my VIN on Mazda's computers. The same one wouldn't fix my squealing brakes as per the TSB either, said it wouldn't do anything but when another dealer replaced the front pads the problem went away. I completely slammed that dealer in the Mazda customer survey . . . Now I am stuck driving clear across town for service, the dealership is not perfect but they stay informed about the service bulletins and go out of their way to be genuinely helpful. I have only ever had a couple of very minor issues with the car in a year and a half, one wouldn't have thought that that could lead to any sort of service grief . . .

Who is the dealer in Brampton? Is is the one at Bovaird/Hwy 10?

scoop 07-24-2005 08:21 PM

Yes that's the general area, it's Mazda of Brampton on Van Kirk . . . They only prepped the vehicle and did the airbag recall for me. Since then though they have called me several times about stuff, long distance at that. They even called me to tell me about the brake squeal TSB after I had reported it as an unresolved issue in the Mazda survey. They clearly must have seen that I was rather unsatisfied with the repair work at the local dealer and were trying to make things right, nice touch . . . The Ottawa dealer never called after the survey, maybe they read the "never will return" selection . . .

I'll give them a try, I don't think it can hurt. Appreciate the info.
