Block the oil cooler for our Canadian winter?
I'm in Edmonton, does anyone know if our oil cooler is thermostatically controlled?
Is it a good or bad idea to block the airflow over the oil cooler over the winter? |
Each cooler has it's own thermostat - don't block 'em.

Just the answer I needed.

Hate reviving a super old thread, but I had a question that was in line with the OP's question. This was a short discussion in the B@W thread, but I have noticed that while driving my oil temps (oil temp sensor in oil pan) is reading anywhere from 120-140F on days that are below 35F. From what I remember reading, the goal is to have a nice and warm oil during normal driving to ensure that there is no moisture buildup in the oil and that the oil is performing as intended. Of course, when I come to a stop the oil temps start climbing up, but is there a danger to the low oil temps I am seeing during driving?
Any S2 owners seeing the same thing? (for those that are monitoring oil temps) |
