Black 8 w/red int. in Ontario?

I was wondering if we can get that combination in Ontario?!
I sewn some pics and it looks sweet.

In Canada you can't get black with red, only black with tan.

Evolv 09-08-2003 09:12 AM

Order one, specify Black exterior with Red interior and ask for a spring 2004 delivery. See what mazda Canada says to that! Just tell them to prep a USA unit for Canada. I believe that the US and CDN cars are exactly the same until they arrive at port, where some changes are made and stickers applied.

Wing 09-08-2003 10:58 AM

Nope the cars aren't the same.

You MAY be able to order one though it is possible.

But ...

1) The bumpers are different (we have headlight washers).
2) All our cars have the bigger brakes.
3) we have a 6 disc changer and all our cars are 9 speaker bose.
4) We don't have tire pressue sensors
5) We also have DRL's

So this begs the question, WHY do we have california emmisions? Obviously because it takes less effort which = less money than making another ECU map for Canada.

I suppose in theory you could move to California though and require a pass, this could be why as well.

But if the Japan spec emmisions the cars were shipped with would have passed, wouldn't that have been even easier?

I'd have to guess the Japan spec wouldn't pass up here either, and the Euro spec 3 was the next mapping they had available.
At least they didn't go to Euro spec 4 and drop the power to what the UK is getting...

BTW, what's DRL stand for?

Wing 09-08-2003 12:03 PM

DRL = Daytime Running Lights.

MyRxBad 09-08-2003 12:41 PM

I know, "officially" we can't get it (as per mazda canada's website) but I was wondering if it would be possible.

I guess it won't hurt to ask at the dealership(s). :D
I'll keep ya posted and see what comes of it. In the meantime, if you hear of one in Canada, let me know.

I just got back from a visit with my Mazda dealer and here is the scoop.

Mazda has not released the details for the next allocation of 8's. The next ones coming will be 2005's (nice) and 3000 for Canada.

The manager will call me as soon as he has all the details as to what will be available for 2005, (spring 2004 delivery).

He mentioned that it might be possible to order the red interior, even if thats not an option at allocation. But that was just his best guess. Time will tell.

Wing 09-08-2003 12:55 PM

So is that what they expect per year 3000, per year in Canada?

If so we may see our value stay high enough

In the US the car will be a dime a dozen if they have 30,000 a year.

3000 is fairly limited!

Evolv 09-08-2003 04:29 PM

3000 makes sense. Thats 1/10 of the amount going to the USA which is also close to the difference in our popluations.

Population: Canada 31 million, Unites States 292 million

about 1/10
