time for new tires

anyone got any feedback on these, going to put 245 on the back and 225 front..got a great price.

why not the same size all around? itll save you money when you got to rotate them

I have the BFG G-Force 225s and have been happy with them.

+1 to that Dozer... makes sense to me to run the same all around.

nice...so is there a performance loss with wider tires...i am a believer that mazda put these on for a reason.....but..

there isnt a huge difference in width here...the tire wont look way wider on the back if thats what you are going for. I, and it seems everyone else posting here, suggest you run either 225/45R18s all around or 245/40R18 all around.

all staggered fitment will do will lose you the ability to rotate your tires as well it might negatively effect the handling of the car.

i would think if the wider tire was significantly better then you would have less grip on the front than you do on the back so the car would push at its limits assuming nothing else has changed from stock.

moral of the story, run the same size all around. a few GTA guys have run 245/40s all around. thats what im planning to do once i need tires.

Eidt: also, there may be a gas mileage issue with the wider tire....i've heard people say that but i cant vouch for it. just something to think about there.

i am asking for "advise" amd will most definetly make an educated decision based on the information gathered by the people in here that know what works..like you....i personally think the stock setup is probable the perfect mix of grip, width and low friction for gas mileage....i also believe that the fatter the tire(until its so wide your car cant push the damn things) means more grip...so in short i am lost all i know is the OEM tires are great but not for the price bridge wants for them....the g force tread says cornering to me....and also says that i may eat after i pay for them....lol

so maybe i will stick to stock, PS i am also bored of my rims...anyone want them..

i say you go with 245's all around...

if it doesnt make the car look signifigantly wider and i use more gas...which i cant see aspossible cuz the car already uses more fuel than the entire desert storm military movement..thank why an i putting wider????

I've actually got the 245 kdw's on my car now (running on a 18x8.5 rim). Honestly, they do look a lot meaner then the 225's.... in fact more people comment on my tire's more than anything else on the car. As for any additional grip... I honestly can't say... to notice any more grip from the 245's over the 225's.. at that level it comes down to the driver more then anything else... and I'm not that good.

There is some noise from these tires... but... if you're anything like me... you're driving around with the windows down and the music up (level 6 on the radio is all that's needed to drown the tire's out)... so you wont really notice it anyways... unless the road you're driving on is complete crap. Honestly though.. the grip that these tire's proven more then makes up for that.

As for the staggered's.. as most people have said... it WILL mess up your handling... you'll end up with understeer instead of the balanced handling you have now. I forget which car mag when into that discussion.. but... they were testing with a 350z.. got rid of the stock staggered for the same size all around... and it improved the handling of the car significantly.

Oh.. and for the gas thing.. that's kinda BS... it may make some difference... but the amount is so small.. .it doesn't really matter. I didn't notice ANY change when I switched..

I guess when one goes for wider wheels, they should also go for lighter rims to offset the total wheel-mass that the drivetrain is spinning?

But this is like peanuts.. kinda like the gas consumption issue...?

Rev, what offset are you running 18 x 8.5?

I doubt you're gonna notice much difference in gas consumption. I didn't notice any going to the MS rims and they weigh so much less than stock.
