automatic or 6 speed?
I really like the idea of the paddle shifting with the 4 speed so I'm just wondering what you would recommend?

By all means, the 6 speed manual. The auto trans car is quite a bit slower, the engine has less power and a lower redline, and 6 gears are simply more fun than 4!

Drive them both and then decide
I bet I know which one you'll choose after giving both an equal piloting opportunity

6 speeds....there is no substitute!

It depends on your situation, age, stage in life, etc., etc.
Yeah, 6 speeds are lots of fun. In previous cars that were manuals I could drive for days here in DC and never get out of 4th gear because of the roads/traffic/other conditions. And when I was spending an hour each morning and afternoon sitting in traffic inching along, I would think, gee my left leg is tired. So when I got my 8 I got the auto. And yes, it is slower and has less power and all those other things people (with manuals) have said. But you know what? I love my car and it works for me in my situation. You should drive them both and think about what will work best for you. End of rant. mm |
If you don't care about gas, you can drive the 8 in the city on pretty much just the second gear! :)
I tried to follow the recommended shifting ranges (Grandmother setting "on"), and it's pretty crazy. It's approximately 2-25, 3-35, 4-45, 5-55, 6-65km/hr... I always end up skipping gears (e.g. 1-2-4-6, or 1-2-3-5) in the city. |
I have an auto...and i regret it big time.....

I can give you 6+1 reasons to go with the manual.
