Dammit! I knew I should have went! I live 5 minutes from there.
And so much for avoiding off-camber turns... haha

 

Some 30 yrs ago, we used Rockford Speedway to autocross. It is a 1/4 mile oval. The track had an X in the center and that was utilized to add some corners. Later, Illiana Speedway, a 1/2 mile oval was used. The track was wider and the course designer was able to make a track that keep us from going too fast. Also, somewhere in that time, Lake Geneva Raceway was put to use.

 

We used to autox on the oval at Race City, but since then we have found better venues.

 

We used to go to Lancaster Speedway just across the border I think near Fort Erie and then with the Corvette Club at the Cayuga Speedway oval.
