Atlantic Canada Group heading to Deal's Gap Rotary Rally

I just thought to post this up. Is anybody else form Atlantic Canada interested in going to the Deal's Gap Rotary Rally in North Carolina this year? I thought some might be interested in the event but didn't want to go by themselves.

My better half and I went to the Rotary Rally last year, and liked it so much we are going again this year, and we have at least two more (with an additional 2 tentative) cars going with us.
Anybody else planning on going that wants to join our caravan, or perhaps thinking of going but wanted some other people going to give them a push?

Current plan has us taking a week total for the trip, leaving Halifax on Tuesday the 26th of April and getting back on Tuesday, May 3rd. Basically, take our time getting down to see some things/do some shopping etc. arriving in Bryson City on Thursday. Do the DGRR thing on Friday and Saturday, then join up with the group going to The Mitty at Road Atlanta on Sunday, then a couple of long-haul days home Monday/Tuesday.

We have a large "luxury" cabin booked that still has some spare beds. Rooms in the area seem to be getting scarce.

Anyway, just thought I would put this out there for anybody who I don't know already. The DGRR is a must-attend event for any Rotary car fan, or for those who appreciate a good driving adventure.

Actually I might be heading down depending on how my wife feels at that point (she's be about 5 and a half months pregnant by then). If the wife doesn't come I might go with a buddy.

Send me the details on your route and your cabin and maybe we can meet up somewhere along the way, I'll talk to the wife.

Just got my RX8 and joined the forums this week. Sounds like an awesome shakedown cruise before my powertrain coverage expires. ;)

I'm definitely in!

BabyStig: Got your PM. You have an email in response.

TheWulf: The more the better. Not totally sure how subscribed our cabin is, but it sleeps 13 people so we still have some space. It's the super luxury cabin on the side of a mountain with the hot-tub, games room etc. There are two bedrooms, a futon, and two sets of bunks (4 total) in the games room with the pool table. 2 bunks are queen sized the the other bunk set is a twin and a full. We'd probably split costs by the number of people we have.
Not only does having the big cabin help us share costs for accommodations, we can also prepare a lot of our own meals, which saves even more.
We went with a cabin in Fontana View where we stayed last year. It's a gated community a few miles away from Nantahala Village where the actual DGRR is held. We like the idea of being able to escape "the party" and get a decent nights sleep after that long of a drive. Plus a few cars in the crazyness got damaged over night at the village. We liked the privacy up the road at Fontana View.
As for our route, still working on that. Planning to meet up with a couple of US guys somewhere around northern Virgina on Thursday morning to make the run down to the cabin for Thursday night, but still in planning stages now.
If you are interested in going, by all means perhaps we can work something out.

Hmmm that sounds like a fairly large cabin. Do you have a link to a website with details and pics? Also, do you have an idea of the costs?

That might be fine if I go up with a friend but if I go with the wife I'm not sure she'd be up for that. I know for a fact that she'll want a private room and bathroom for sure. The other thing is with that many people, there's always the few select inconsiderate people who don't have respect for others (noise, property, etc), so I'm not sure I agree with "the more the better".

I should know sometime this weekend who I'll be going up with, so if you want to send me more details I can let you know in a few days.

No worries. I'll take it PMs anyway. (Don't want to publicly discuss costs etc.)

Thought I would give this a little bump. Just over a month before we leave, and started planning our route down etc.
Just wanted to see if there was anybody else planning to go to meet up with on the way, down there etc.

Leaving really early Thursday morning (4-5 am) want to be there the same evening. Our you NS guys staying in Nantahala Village, if so probably see you there.

Bit of a longer drive for us. We're leaving Tuesday morning to try and get in around early evening on Thursday.
We're staying at Fontana View just down the road (in the fancier cabins) but will be around the Nantahala Village a fair bit.
See you there.

Two weeks from yesterday until we depart. Just about have our route planned out and meeting with some folks in PA to caravan down through Virginia. Figured I'd give one last bump to see if anybody along our route was going to see if they want to join up.

Like I mention on the 7 forum I did a small quantity of 8 decals and stickers free to all attending members. See you there!

Attachment 246121

(RX-8 Club Of Canada Decals) 2 on 8.5"x 5.5"
Vinyl Coated Medium Tack Stickers can be used on the car windows, but personally I would not put on painted surfaces as they may be a bugger to get off.

(RX-8 Club Of Canada Deals Gap Rotary Rally Stickers) 2 on 8.5"x 8.5" are not recommended for use on your car, they have a permanent adhesive.
