Anyone in Scarborough or Toronto have a coil tester?
Hi Everyone,
Pretty sure my coils are shot, but someone mentioned a coil tester. Does anyone happen to know if there's one available for use in the Scarborough area? :) |
I have an inductive timing light that I can test see if your coils are sparking or not. But it won't tell you how strong the spark is. I am in Richmond hill.
|
The instructions from Mazda that tests your coils based on the resistance between terminals A B C is useless in my opinion.

Hey Footman - thanks! I'm sure my coils are sparking, I assume they're just weak. I'm one who likes to collect data and correlate differences.

The tester is $12 :).........DON'T BE CHEAP AND BUY ONE lol
|
Didn't realize they were that inexpensive. Can they test the actual voltage, or are they just resistance meters? I'd assume for that price all they can do is test resistance which I can do with a voltmeter. Although the two *should* be connected there's no guarantee what the actual output voltage is without something that can test ~25kV - a task which I would assume is going to be more expensive than $12.
Which product are you referring to? I can't find anything specific. Thanks! |
look for TeamRX8's coil test thread....thé tester looks like a strange spark plug :)
