Anybody know this RX8?

I have been looking at this particular car at the dealership and I was wondering if anybody, by chance, would know the history of this car.

http://www.autotrader.ca/used_cars_C...v=Ontario&r=40

I'm highly interested in picking it up and the dealership seems equally if not more interested in selling me this car. It gets me feeling a little uneasy thinking they're forcing it for hidden reasons. Are there things I should look out or ask for before buying a pre-owned rx8? Please let me know because the test drive almost sold me to this car. Thanks in advance!

I don't think I recall seeing that 8 before... it's got a Mazdaspeed rear bumper and wing... which if real are worth some decent coin.

As for what to look for... there are a tonne of different posts on that subject... just to a quick search (even in the Canadian forum alone) and you'll see what you should keep an eye out for.. off the top... look for rust in the rear wheel well, verify the clutch is in good condition... etc.

G'luck with the purchase.

This 8 has the Front Air Dam, no side aero flare or MS side skirt, but have the MS rear bumper and MS spoiler.... I don't recall seeing this 8 at all~

Thanks guys. What's the going price for this car because obviously this has been marked up. The description shows it has atx but it's mtx and a GS trim but since it has leather seats shouldn't it be GT?

On a side note, have you guys heard of any fitment issues with the MS rear diffuser because the fitment on this kit isn't perfect and not fully sticking to the bumper.

Sorry for the flood of questions but I appreciate it if you guys can help. I just don't want to be gipped and hopefully get the most out of my $$$.

it also says its a 5 passenger car which would be interisting to wittness

Yeah, it's a GT.

5 passenger

MS rear is a difficult fit because you have to cut off part of the stock bumper...

I'd be worried that they have no idea what they're selling...

Not sure what a fair price would be.

Midget in the trunk!

Yeah it says auto trans when it's manual, and yes I found that funny that it said 5 passengers. Another mistake would be posting it as a GS if it's a GT. Can someone confirm this? Not sure if DarkBrew was serious lol

Wouldn't I be able to use that to my advantage IF I know more than they do... which unfortunately isn't the case, yet.

It should be a GT from the pictures too since it has the leather seats and not cloth. I too was really confused looking at the ad and the pictures as most of the information didn't match up. Automatic, GT and 5 Passenger...haha I think you should really check this car out in detail before making the purchase as it seems like the dealer doesn't know what the heck they're doing, even though they're a Mazda Dealer

Get the Vin, then carproof report it. You'll know its history easily, then proceed with the negotiations.

Buy mine, I want to buy a FD! mine has only 65,ooo km 2006 GT only driven one winter, well maintained lots of mods and a lot cheaper!

If the poster on auto trader didn't take enough time to get the ad correct he obviously doesn't care too much about his car... I mean really? How hard is it to see if it's a manual or a auto and if it has 5seats or 4...

Speed_8 07-27-2010 07:20 PM

hey man, i used to sell the rx8, if the dealership put the kit on the car , meaning they want it gone to attract sellers, the ball is in your hand.. you may the only person that has ever shown real interest in the car.. when you go to negotiate tell him a stupid number like.. 22 tax in.. if he sais forget it then you say fine heres my number call me when ur ready. Give it a few days call back and say so 22 000 is good? if he sais no.. then you say no problem have a good day and then do not call and wait, he'll call you back.. my rx8 i got at my work 2006 24000km full speed accessories `for 20000 plus tax :) including the wheels.. good luck man, and don't be a push over. they see you as a happy guy that just wants his candy

Not leaving the 8's just going with a 7. Always wanted a FD, it's not like I'm looking at a VW or a Subaru. It's what the RX-8 should have been. I'll be seeing it this week only time will tell. It a rotary as well just with twin turbos and some torque. Never driven one, so the dream may unravel, that's the problem with wanting dream cars, there not always the same as the image in your mind's eye. OLD Fart in a 7 maybe!

Prime, if you are interested, pm me!

THat is not a front air dam... it looks almost like a MS front bumper, but the bottom lip doesn't quite look right. I think the front is an aftermarket bumper. Not OEM, not MS front.

Thanks dude, but finally last night I've decided to wait before buying the rx8 (perhaps a 2009+ version). After the test drive I was eager to get one. I wasn't really in the market to buying a new car until I went for the test drive. I was just helping my gf purchase her '07 GTI and right next door was the Mazda dealership so I figured "hey why not? I always wanted one". Didn't think I would be so attracted and was almost forcing myself to afford one.

I know what you mean, the RX7 FD was my first ever dream car which led me to the 8. Too bad IMO the FD's are either in terrible conditions or overpriced. Good luck to your purchase and sale though!

Thanks everyone (I'll be back some other time)
