alarm shock sensor
alarm shock sensor
Any of you get the alarm shock sensor thingy, and noticed that shortly after they pulled the product , well my dealer called me today and told me there is a fix and they will install it next week. I think he mentioned a diode or something, and that there is only 1 guy in the shop that can do it..
The cool thing is I didn't buy my RX8 there only had 1 oil change done there , and damn they give more service than my usual dealer, I mean I only mention to him about the sensor 3 weeks ago and he comes back to me with an answer, I didn't even ask him for a fix, just wanted to know if he knew anything about it..
Well I'm switching ma RX8 there even if he his 45 minutes car drive away ( give me a chance to drive the car
). Sure hope the other 4 dealers in my region read these forum and learn from the other.
By the way , the good dealer is Caron Mazda in valleyfield...

The dealer I go to doesn't want to touch the sensor, "you bought it from them, they should fix it!" Sad part is, both places are owned by the same guy!
I will be ordereing a new part, and giving them the old one back - I put it on the first time, and I will do it again...bunch of wimps!

The alarm shock sensor is NOT part of the GT package. It is a Mazda accessory (about $45) and it adds a shock sensing mechanism to your alarm. The idea is, after the car is locked, someone jostling the car will cause the horm to beep and the lights to flash. There is a sensitivity adjustment.
The problem is with the first generation of these sensors (I have one, I installed last Sept). When I turn off the car, get out and shut the driver's door, sometimes the interior lights will flash about 1/2 dozen times and I'll hear a loud clicking sound. I haven't even locked the car so theoretically it should not be active.
Mazda pulled these from the market for a few months until they determined a fix. There is now a TSB covering the sensor. It involves a diode being added to one of the signal lines. I haven't been to my dealer yet to get this fixed.

I just had the sensor installed 2 days ago. Dealer from Brantford called me and told me.
It was the first one they had done, but I trust them. It cost me $110.00 plus taxes. Took them about 1 hour or so, but I like it.
You already have the option to close the windows, when the ignition is off but will not do that for the moon room.
I must say, I got my car in Brantford, and they are great!! (although this is my 10th car purchase in 15 years). Got $1500.00 off list and good trade value for my protoge 5.
