Smile 8 is one rare bird in Ottawa

I received my 8 in early October and have yet to drive by another in Ottawa more than 3 months later. I wonder how much that kind or rarity is worth...some people pay lots of money for cars this rare. I'm loving it!

Anyhow, besides mdmaclean, are there any other winter driv'n 8's in Ottawa or do we own these streets?

...and how many in Ottawa are in hibernation?

I went to a movie at the Colleseum yesterday, and there was a silver one parked, and my Titanium one too!

Cool feeling, huh?
There aren't very many running around Halifax, except of course for the 2 that live within a couple blocks of me... other then that, I've only ever seen 2 other ones.

Ottawa 8's

My 8 is hibernating in my garage. And slowly getting MODS. I have seen only about 5-8's on the road in Ottawa since I got mine in August. I do see a TIT GREY RX8 in Orleans all the time has 9kREDLN (or something like that).

MODS COMPLETED:

- AT aluminum pedals installed
- Front plate removed
- Front grill detailed with chrome and RX8 LOGO installed
- Grounding wires kit installed
- Ordered New Personalized Plate (RX R8ID)

THINGS YET TO BE DONE BEFORE SPRING:

- rotors to be drilled and slotted and Coated
- paint calipers
- install new exhaust
- install Clear markers

THING TO BE DONE ONCE THE WARM WEATHER COMES:

- Tint windows
- Clear bra on front

Anyway's, I hope to see you all this New Year. We should plan to gatherings and road trips!!!

Cheers

In the garage, waiting for a dry, kinda warm day to go for a spin.

Have not been out since mid-December.

Have Nav Tray to install - waiting for translation on instructions, then XM Radio.

If the silver one was really dirty, it was mine.

Mines been parked in the driveway (Orleans) since early Dec. Waiting for April

I only had it for about a month before parking it. Will be buying winter tires and undercoating it for next winter.

No mods planned.

Wing;

Nice to see you still around. I'm sure they still have it there or they sent it back to Mazda Canada for auction.

Cheers

Well, it is nice of all of you guys to lay low and make me feel like the only one in Ottawa to be driving such an awesome car.

Although the winter wheels are working well (FRD6 package), I've been taking the van when it is really cold for fear of being rear-ended by the guys with all-season tires on.

BTW. I travel around the Orleans area...Black with appearance package and tint.

oh...and I did get rear-ended in the van last week!

Angry

I got rear ended and pushed into a Trail Blazer 2 Fridays back while driving my 98 MPV. It's in the shop now with about 8K in damage. And I'm walking around with a real sore neck.

Hate to even think what the bill would be if i'd been driving the 8.

I guess the good news (for me) is the guy who hit me was charged with careless driving, so he faces 100% liability for my damages and the SUV I was hammered into.

Thanks, I check in on Occasion, I haven't seen an RX8 for a while. I don't think I ever saw one in kanata (where I drive mostly).

Of course I don't think I ever saw and S2k either :D I saw one a few months ago, silver, just before I got my spa yellow.

See you guys on the road! I'm hoping April 1 will bring good weather.

Hey Jpw,

I got rear ended not once, but twice the first week after taking delivery of my 8. Took delivery November 28 - rear ended the first time on December 3 and the second time on December 5th. I was just by the body shop today (February 16) and they have finally finished all structural work painting and sealing. They have just begun to re-assemble. I should get it back next week. Over $10k in damage and only 750km on the clock! I'll send you a pic.

I think as soon as the snow goes away there going to be everywhere.
Its like that with most cars.

I was at the Orleans Mazda and the guy told me they have sold quite a few.
I also saw 6 or 7 in the lot waiting to find a owner.

I'm hopeing to get one as soon as the snow melts. I just need to justify spending the $50K over $35K with a RSX. When i say justify...i mean afford.

you wont beleive this but....
i picked up the car saturday at 1:00 pm. I drove to tremblant. It broke down today on the way back. I drove a 47K car for exactly 24 hours and it broke! Something to do with the gears. Anyway, i am interested in seeing what the dealership is going to do with it. I hope its not a lemon.....
