2008 Ottawa RX meet JUNE 7-8

People have been wondering about this, so here it is.

The 7th annual Ottawa Meet!
Still some details to be worked out, but this is what is planned for now.

For those of you not familiar with the Ottawa meet, it consists of a show and shine, BBQ and party on Saturday and a cruise on Sunday.
The turn out is usually quite good and it's always a fun time.

WHEN: **June 7-8 weekend**

The meet starts off with a show and shine on MAY 31st around 2PM. The plan is to be holding this at the Kanata Recreational Complex (in Kanata) again. There are restaurants nearby. Directions to the KRC will be posted in this thread. This is a good place to meet everyone and check out peoples rides.

After this, Will (RXcetera) is kind enough again this year to have the BBQ at his place later in the afternoon/evening. directions will be provided at the show and shine.

On June 1, we will be holding our annual cruise. Details still to be worked out, and the cruise route will be annouced during the show and shine.

The Ottawa meet is an RX-7 meet, but it is open to all Mazdas.

For more info or suggestions, please pm me or vipernicus42 (Jon) or post on this thread.

Feel free to post this thread in other Mazda forums. Spread the word!

Hope to see you all there!

Great to see the cruise is still on.

Looks like most of my weekends are going to be booked with cruises and what not!

I hope the weather holds for all those weekends!

Glad to see the date is changed. June 1st was not good for me cause it was actually my b-day.

I will definitely take you our for a rip. I should have all the parts that I am waiting for in less than 2weeks. Woot!

Are you planning to move away from Ottawa soon?

HAHA!

It's not as exciting to look at as yours man.

You would swear my car was stock besides my rims.

Heheh yea but there's just something about a turbo that gives you a special feeling. I was so close to buying that STI :banghead: But I love the 8.

Unlike that special feeling you get when you gas it up

I had the choice between a black 06 STi and my white 05 rx8.

Let's just say I am happy with my decision. :)

Not sure what is going on really... I was 90% sure I was going to move home this coming weekend, but i've changed my mind and i'm supposed to meet my brother and/or father half-way and swap cars with them.

Soundsystem is supposed to go in tomorrow (car is being dropped off at the installer's shop tonight) and then the only other things i'm waiting for is an alignment and having my fenders shaved.

And yeah, definitely a good choice there Dan. I drive STI's all the time at work and still much prefer the RX8, and i've got no HP mods! lol

I'll be in Ottawa sometime in July and again in August. If you are having any meets then, keep me in mind ok?

zerobio 04-24-2008 07:26 PM

I've been living away from Ottawa for 18 years (here in London) but I bought my 8 at ... yeah, Bank Street Mazda. I don't want to go there when I'm in Ottawa so can you recommend another dealer that is good. Is the one still there on St. Laurent Blvd? Or that one on Carling?

They are all really bad unfortunately.

You are better off doing the work yourself.

I avoid the two central dealerships based on experiences I've read about here. I make the trip out to Orleans to Performance Mazda when I need to, they're OK.

zerobio 04-25-2008 02:04 PM

^ I've been hearing the same thing about all the Ottawa dealerships. What a drag. Didn't know about the Orleans one but when I'm in town, I'll take a drive out there and check it out.

Thanks guys.

turborx8 04-25-2008 11:48 PM

Performance Mazda in Orleans is also terrible.

It hard to pick witch dealer is worse than the other. lol

zerobio 04-26-2008 12:53 PM

Great ...:(

TheWulf 04-26-2008 01:50 PM

It's like politics. Choose the lesser of all evils. Figuring that out however is the tough part, but I've heard more positives about Performance Mazda than the others.

zerobio 04-27-2008 10:58 AM

^ Ok, Performance Mazda it is ... if necessary.

vipernicus42 05-10-2008 09:08 AM

Good to see that we're going to have some good representation from the rx8 club there :)

It should be awesome. We've been scouting cruise routes and while I can't divulge any info, I can say that it will be similar to last year's with some kickass changes/additions :)
