05 mustang, new competitor?

I just read a review regarding the 05 mustang today...I must say, the GT is awesome! The car's design is solid muscle, and it has an V-8 engine, producing 300 hp... I believe it will be also in the same price range as the Rx-8...It could be a new competitor for the 8..what do you guys think?

^Is something wrong with Ford? The Mustang will eat the RX8 for breakfast. It won't have the advantage in the corners but it is so much faster it won't matter. It probably won't be a lot of fun to drive, most muscle cars aren't.

Only at the drag strip. Throw in a handful of turns and it's a different ballgame.

I was at one of Ford's test tracks in Jan. Guess what car they were using as the handling benchmark? Yep, one red RX8 got more laps on the handling track than all the Mustangs they had there put together. 05 Mustang looks cool, sounds cool, not sure how well it will handle.

They are two different cars with two different markets. I am sure Ford is not worried much about losing sales of one to the other.

If you want lots of power with room to grow for not much money, the Mustang GT will surely be the way to go. 300hp for $25k is a pretty good deal.

Mustangs are tubby, ugly, loud, and piggy (squishy sideways). they're not competitors in the real world: almost like saying a BMW and a Camaro are competitors.
