Back from the Big City, Detroit.
Hi All:
Just got back from the show and our first priority is to post up some pictures. That should happen tonight. Apart from that, I will give you a full report on things tomorrow. I will say the cars looks great in person and was able to get quite a few shots of the Titanium car which you’ve seen by now and today, the red car (Can anyone spell "Candy Apple Red"?). That's what it looked like to me. Also, you will see just a few shots on what I've named the "Mystery RX-8". This car was left up on the platform instead of being driven down so I was not able to get close for pictures. However, I got one on the film crew guys who had access to take my camera up and snag a few shots for us. When they get posted, you will see what I saw. There were two distinct differences on this black one. First, it had a brushed aluminum gas lid. Easy enough! But look at the picture of the front wheel duct which is behind the front wheel. You will see two chrome bars which have never been seen on any of the other cars. No. It is not the Mazdaspeed version. I met every one of the RX-8 Project Team from Japan and had time to talk with them. Like usual, they would not about anything in the future other than to say there’s more to come. The Mazdaspeed will hit Japan first before it comes here but more on that later. Let’s enjoy the moment. Prices start at $25,185.00 and fully equipped, round out to about $30,000. This does not include NAV which will probably be available on the second batch of cars coming over here. If you want NAV, you’ll have to wait a while, probably another month or two. Starting at 12:01AM PST, you will be able to go on-line to order your car. Check it out! That’s it for today. Much more to come... Boowana ;) |
thanks boo your the man!!

Re: Back from the Big City, Detroit.
Thanks again for everything you've done!
:D :D :D :D Hope that you get a good night's rest! Originally posted by boowana ... you will see just a few shots on what I've named the "Mystery RX-8". What? Back so soon? Go back and snap more pictures! :D
Just kidding boo, you did great work, and since I couldn't go, I was able to live vicariously through you. |
Very many thanks go to Boowana and his enthusiasm. Although living vicariously is acceptable, I personally would have liked to have met Jackie Stewart on the RX8 platform myself.
Thanks Boowana!!!! ---jps P.S. And now I also have the means to blackmail him for more insider information :D. |
Boowana, what can I say bro? I'm getting verklempt... You are truly amazing. Thank you so much. I've been spooling up for the last three days or so, and still going. Looks like I'll be staying up tonight. Just so I make no mistake, PST is Pacific Standard, correct? I'm CST, so guess 02:01 is H-hour for me. Now let's just hope Mazda's server doesn't crash from everyone scrambling to spec one out at 12:01 PST.
FYI, the reason I am doing mine tonight, is that I'm leaving town on business early in the a.m., and may not have internet access for a couple of weeks. Talk about timing! |
you da man boo! :D
|
So what’s the deal? Are you going to enlighten us as to who you are or who your contacts are? And what about all that Bluetooth “stuff”?
BTW… great job in Detroit!!! :D :D :D |
Much thanks for everything you've done for us in these last few months. :)

Ordering
As you've probably seen already, you can configure and order your car on the web but nothing happens until you get together with a dealer.
It appears that mazda was a little late in getting it started as i received an email from them this morning advising me it was up. I ordered mine and went to the dealer. Mine is done! Titanium Grey Metallic Black/Red Leather Grand toruing Package Later... |
Hats Off To You Boo
I wanted to thank you for all that you've done. I wasn't able to be there to see the 8 through my eyes, but I saw them through yours. Thank you so much. The pics. were great;)
|
You are my hero. You took some amazing photos. The shots you got for us are probably going to be better than what the car mags will ever give us. Thanks again.:D :D :D :D

Thanks
Your all welcome. It was a pleasure being able to share with everyone.
Now, if I can continue to keep my real identity hidden, I am sure that I will get more advanced information in the futurs. Remember, we still have the Mazdaspeed version and whatever other cars coem along. I did find out that there will be another new showing at geneva this year. This show is usually in the middle of March. You can keep an eye on this link. http://www.salon-auto.ch/en/ :p |
BRIAN-
NOOOOOO....You promised you would tell. You said, "I will tell all after the World-wide Launch at NAIAS in January." I've been waiting months for the NAIAS for two reasons. One was for the info on the production RX-8, the other was to find out the answer to your identity. If you go back to that thread where your identity was questioned, you'll even see that I spent some time doing research to try to find out who you really are. With the passage of time I don't think I was even close, but none the less, I've been waiting patiently. PPPLLLLLEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSEEEE?;) ~Robert |
Identity
Robert:
Hear's the deal. When I said i would reveal my identity, I didn't realize how far I could go in getting relevant and timley information from a number of great sources throughout the company. It has become apparent that to blow my cover now would imoeed my ability to continue to get information well before the magazines, etc. As you know, there is lots still to come like the Mazdaspeed RX-8, The possible next RX-7, the Mazda9, etc. If I am going to be able to continue feeding this forum with that information, i must remain "below the radar", if you get my drift. Everyone here seems to like to get information first, just like I do. it is for these reasons that I have decided to stay "STEALTH". I know you will understand and I'm sorry if I dissapointed you. Soemday, it will happen.:) Boowana |
