Hiya's, is there anywhere to get RX8 tune up kits from in NZ ? Something along the lines of this:

Not a bad deal. But make sure they are reputable. Most of the dealers have listings on the forums for deals going as well. I have dealt with Charles from BHR and rotaryfx in usa before.

From BHR the costs are this:
1) BHR Ignition System, $560.56 (USD).
2) BHR Ignition System, with a set of NGK spark plugs, 643.76 (USD).

Any idea if that's a good deal ?

I bought the ram from bhr, not the ignition system and plugs. What you're buying off bhr are their expertise.

I got my RX8 from a dealer who had it for a while, and I'm having trouble re-starting it after its been running for a while (eg turn it off to get petrol and then trying to turn it on again can take a few minutes to start up again). I looked at lots of threads on the forums and it seemed like changin the coils and spark plugs was the first thing to do ... While that seems reasonable, the cost from Mazda to do it isn't when looking at the parts mark up they're charging !

So just checking out some options. I have a friend that does stuff on his Evo who thinks he can follow the DIY's on here so looking at getting the bits and giving that a go.

A monkey could change the coil's and plug's , it's not rocket science.

Yeah tell me about it, daylight robbery! Had a bad episode myself when i went to local Mazda dealer after I bought last year. Long story short coolant spilled everywhere at the lights, due to a clamp to being put on.

I take it you have been giving your engine a decent rev up once a week?

If the plugs havent been done in a while, they are a bugger to remove. Plus much easier to get at them under a lift than the wheel well.

Have imported my parts from the us for a long time now - never had an issue and have saved heaps .

I make sure I drive the car at least a few times per week, not realy extensively but have a short motor drive (7-8 mins) to get home from work if I drive there.

Interestingly, just did a tour of the lower north island over xmas and new years and my 8 seems to be behaving itself more now and not having so much trouble starting. Maybe it just needed a blowout - which it got, what great fun it was on the open road ! Well, actually it was prolly more fun ont he windy bits :icon_tup:
