What to watch out for... 2003 RX8
I'm buying a 2003 RX8.
It is owned by a mate and has been serviced regulary by Mazda, he's very thourough with maintaining the car. It is a manual and has 130000 kms on it.... is there anything major I should be looking for that might be in need of repair or on the way out. thanks Rod |
Get a compression test done

And make sure its had its 120k km service, its really expensive, so if its done you are laughing :)

(mine is 130,000) compression is a must, make sure it shifts well and make sure it revs to 9rpm before you buy. Put it in 2nd and put your foot down and if it revs faster than the speed goes up, there is a gear box problem. Alot of people dont know how to drive a high revving car all that well...but if its been looked after - by an enthusiast (like mine was) then you should be fine.
Go for it, this car is amazing! :) |
What sort of compression should I be looking for?
thanks for the advice. cheers Rod |

There was one with scan of the readout, but I can't find it. Give that thread a read :) |
