What Speed?

New owner (and loving it). Question for you. Having read in many posts about the thrill of 9000, and now having the first service, at what speed , and in what gear are you when you hit 9? Haven't been over 6 yet, but when I look at the speedo - holy shiezenhauzen, I am already over the speed limit!

smcgo4 06-08-2007 02:08 AM

Wow :Eyecrazy: that is impressive!

Cromax 06-08-2007 02:33 AM

Hmm ... I hit 115-120, but that may be the way I change gears.

MissyK 06-08-2007 03:02 AM

lol course Cromax does this on private property!! lol

I agree with DVSRX8, u can get to 100 in 2nd gear and redline it to hear the beep.

DarkBrew 06-08-2007 05:59 AM

Beeeeeeeeep

1st, 2nd, 3rd

Must redline!

MissyK 06-08-2007 06:27 PM

Cromax 06-08-2007 07:56 PM

You are better than me I think ... don't you think?

takahashi 06-09-2007 03:24 AM

Don't redline in 3rd, it is in the licence suspension zone!

DavidM 06-09-2007 09:20 AM

At 9000rpm:
- 1st = 62kph
- 2nd = 103kph
- 3rd = 142kph
- 4th = 197kph
- 5th = 234kph
- 6th = 277kph

Hypothetically speaking of course, lol.

Unless you have a bloody big cliff...

takahashi 06-09-2007 09:27 PM

100kmh tail wind may do too...

Are you making admissions to excessive speeding? :)

RjT 06-10-2007 03:07 AM

I know casedogg that was kinda my point, haha whats so excessive about that Drewman I was on the autobahn while doing it... I wish.

Since when is 312kph excessive? HAHAHA

For the record, I doubt the speedo in the dash would be accurate above 240 ...

And I doubt a stock car has exceeded 240.

Cromax 06-10-2007 09:15 PM

Umm *cough* yeah.

I believe it could get over 240 easily unless Mazda have put some sort of speed restriction on the vehicle as the car is rather slippery stock.

I think what Mazda put in a restriction call wind resistance and low power NA rotary.

Cromax 06-10-2007 11:00 PM

Wind resistance isn't the problem on a crisp still day, it's the 1.293kg/m^3 of air density at 0C that would be the issue.

Revolver 06-10-2007 11:10 PM

That may well be. My point was that I'm yet to see any credible evidence of a stock car exceeding that kind of number in the real world.

Car & Driver did report 150mph (241 kmh) but most others fall into the high 130's, low 140's mph - i.e. under 240 kmh.

DrewMan 06-11-2007 02:09 AM

which is why you need one of these!

Furymax 06-11-2007 02:47 AM

Don't know if it is stock or modded but this one gets 244 kph, I think.

Still a far cry from 312 though, think you would have to be going down hill with the wind behind you in a cyclone or something to achieve that one!!
