Couple of pic's of the sub & amp I installed today.

Nice Mikey.

For a moment I thought there is a small spare wheel in there... The cover looks like spokes on an alloy wheel.

:cwm27: I thought the same for a second Taka.

Was nearly going to ask Mike why he changed his mind and bought such dog ugly rims, lol. :cwm27:

Yeah cover is a little "heavy duty" but with the crap that's usually flying around in my boot thought bigger the better!

9krpmrx8 06-10-2007 07:03 PM

Nice, what rear strut bar is that?

spokenstone 06-10-2007 07:13 PM

I think that's the spare tire mounting kit not a strut bar.

9krpmrx8 06-10-2007 07:18 PM

Oh shit, never seen that before.

Standard equipment on Aussie-spec cars.

Most of us remove the spare and some remove the bar as well.

Cromax 06-10-2007 11:48 PM

Nice work mikey! I gather it's removeable so you can still play golf right?

thirdkong 06-11-2007 01:15 AM

Can you give specific for the sub's box? Thanks. BTW, looks great.

Great way to ruin a good walk. I play grudgingly a couple of times a year and only if there is beer! About 9 holes can actually be "fun" after that I'm well over it!!

But yes, is "velcoed" in and comes out pretty easily.

Fibreglass enclosure, about 27L with nice gold connectors. Am using a twin coil 2ohm 200watt Response speaker, cheap but delivers well above it's price range! Has a full metal frame versus some of the plastic rubbish around. Does weigh a ton however.

Powered by a Coustic 400 watt class d amp. Has a nice Carbon fibre finish that doesn't show in the photo. EDIT: and i soldered in a new connecting bundle to the mainboard, couldn't find a connector to fit the original! Hence the big white plug!

Many thanks to the audio guru's on the forum, their wiring diagrams were very helpful.

Boxes can found at www.Karatan.com.au

Nick Tan is a great bloke and helpful.:lol2:

Best of.

mikeyr 06-11-2007 02:42 AM

Drew you can get linched posting ebay links, suggest you delete.

Shall we say that the box can be found on a certain large auction website using the .au version or at karatan by emailing Nick.

Looks good Mike! I wanna have a listen!!

My stuff will, finally, arrive tomorrow and the boot and interior is already de-constructed to start work straight away :fingersx:

For what its worth I can also vouch for Nick T and his workmanship :)

enforcer 06-12-2007 04:07 AM

:lol2: They are on the grill! Bit naff and haven't totally wired in. Can't seem to get them to link into the boot light. And after spending half a day with my head in the boot and half a day shoveling mud, my back had called it a day..... oh and there was beer!
