The stuff you hear....

Setting the scene....

Punter walks in off the street to enquire about a top of the range vehicle... asks a tricky question about said vehicles engine, and is directed into the Service Managers office....

SM proceeds to tell the punter that the particular model he is enquiring about has a Japanese Domestic Market variant that is more powerful than the local version.

That JDM car isn't worth a pinch.....its high output exotic engine
will require a rebuild at 60K...

The stuff you hear....

I've narrowed the choice down to Blue or Red...need to see a Red one in the flesh!!!!!

Tomorrow , Cara Mia!!!.....Regards Gomez

Blue's the way to go mate.
The colour of champions! :)

On the other hand, I chose not to go with red mainly because my last car was red and I've already had 2 in the past.

Choose carefully, otherwise you may suffer from buyers remorse like me (should have listened to the missus and got the silver) :(

I hear ya!! Will be keeping the red XR8 family truckster.

Maybe 2 red cars in the drive are one too many!?

More shopping today...

Someone posted the other day that there dealer service expert said a noise in the engine was from the "ceramic seals"

Does that get this thread back on topic?

A few years ago when I had my 200sx, the turbo was making funny whining noises (more than a turbo should make).

Reported it to Nissan service dept. and was told by the service manager that it was due to it being a ball bearing turbo and it was part of the inherent design

I then questioned him about this claim since only the JDM spec cars received ball bearing turbos (thus their huge power advantage) and was curtly told that he was the Nissan expert with 12 years experience.

Needless to say, I got a second opinion at another Nissan dealer, who then found that the turbine wheel was slowly dislodging itself.

At least at my work, I try to be a bit more creative when I'm telling customers a crock of s##t (not often, if any of my clients are reading) :)
