Sports Exhaust - Sydney

Hi All,

I'm in Sydney and I'm looking at replacing my stock exhaust system with a sports exhaust (CAT BACK) to give the car a sportier note.

I'm interested in hearing from fellow Sydney-siders with recommendations based on personal experiences with sports exhaust kit's on their RX-8? What they purchased? where? and their final impressions.

Thanks in advance,

HYR12K

I haven't got one, but I heard Apana's a couple of weeks ago and it sounds great.. Get the stainless steel one..

rx88er 04-27-2005 03:29 AM

Yeh go the Hymee....you know you want to.

mikeyr 04-27-2005 03:38 AM

Yep Hymee, i just fitted the poverty pack aluminium but if I was staying in NZ longer I would have gone stainless, will when I return to Aus!

jax8 04-27-2005 03:43 AM

aussierx8club= Hymee fan club.
Justifiably!

HYR12K 04-27-2005 04:50 AM

Thanks for the reply guys.

Damn, thats 6/6 since my last post recommending Hymee.

It's a shame none of you guys are from Sydney. Id love to hear the exhaust note .. the audio file is online but still it's not the same.

Any Sydney-siders with Hymee??

Any Sydney-siders with other recommendations??
Some how I find it difficult to imagine a post in this thread on a recommendation other than Hymee.

Be different......... like me. ;)

i think playa78 has a hymee and 8A8Y8 have the hymee and reside in sydney.

Besides that search the forum for clips/sounds/pics to get a good idea of the difference.
(See sticky in performance forum)

I have the ric shaw system, I love it and am very happy with the look and sound.
I have no direct experience with the Hymee system so I can't say whether mine is better or not.

RXXX8 04-27-2005 07:21 AM

as long as your car doesn't sound like a lawn mower... it's all good. the hks legamax is a good one

8A8Y 8 04-27-2005 07:37 AM

you can check out mine if i get it back this week

mikeyr 04-27-2005 06:22 PM

EZZ! THAT'S 1000 POSTS

Careful you don't end up with a "reputation" like Taka.......:D

takahashi 04-27-2005 06:58 PM

What are you saying :D? Are you talking about me  j/k ;)

Hey I thought AlfredOz has a Hymee too. Is the rumour correct Alfred?

Gibbo you should have hold on to hear Gomez's yesterday. Although your Ric shaw one are not bad at all.

This is my 4400+post :D

HYR12K 04-27-2005 07:01 PM

Thanks for all the feedback guys, really helpful.

Now that I have an idea on what brands are out there .. ill be looking at prices.

Hi-Tech seem to be asking for around the $1500 mark.
I assume the same will apply for HKS Legamax. Which eliminates both.
I don't like the sound of the Borla, or the look of the Greddy & Mazdaspeed.

Interested in seeing how much Ric Shaws system costs.

That leaves Hymee and Racing Beat.
Read alot of good stuff about Racing Beat REV8 Exhaust, I hope its not too expensive and I hope there's a local supplier I can contact.

Not too keen on overseas shipping.

Any Racing Beat owners out there with some feedback?

I'd also like to see/hear the Hymee Exhaust in action. Any sydney siders with Hymee willing to show me?

Thanks all.

HYR12K

I have the Racing Beat Exhaust and shipping costs aside (no local supplier) it is top notch for sound, refinement (no drone), design and quality.

Cheers

ILIV48 04-27-2005 08:36 PM

If you are after Racing Beat products try contacting Selectmaz 03-9401-1155.

These guys are an Australian supplier of Racing Beat and one of the guys there knows Jim from Racing Beat very well.

RXP33D 04-28-2005 01:26 AM

How much are the Racing Beat exhaust in AU$ anyways? z88m? What were shippinh fees to sydney.

this is actually alot more expensive than the hi-tech one

why dont you just get one custom made, that way you can chose the style of muffler and tips you like, as well as the sound ;)

DMRH 04-28-2005 06:25 AM

I think Darrin at Gosford mazda has a HYMEE exhaust in stock for an RX-8.

Contact Darrin on 4337-8099 to go & check it out.

Have dealt with other Sydney companies mentioned here & would recommend against dealing with him for many reasons which are not important to the subject matter here. Darrin is a great guy & always willing to put himself out for the rotary guy.

Ring in advance in case its been sold.

Hymee 04-28-2005 11:36 AM

Thanks for all the support, guys.

HYR12K, I hope you get to experience one first hand locally. I have shipped a number of them to Sydney. Gosford Mazda has fitted a few to customers cars.

I understand how you would like to hear one "in the flesh". All I can say it is better than the audio files on my (excuse for a) website, and all those who have put there trust in me have not been dissapointed.

I have exported 15 systems to Europe and 8 to the USA to date. Shipping costs hurt, but it is good to see they are being accepted overseas.

All the best for your decision making process!

Cheers,
Hymee.

Muzz 04-30-2005 02:07 AM

Hi HYR12K,

I'm in Sydney and I have a Hymee. Whereabouts are you? I can show you this weekend if you like.
