Mazda Australia inspected my car and some items have been replaced

Visited my dealer about 2 weeks ago regarding 'clouded headlights', 'cracking centre dash speaker' and strange sound when accelerate..

The service guy was saying that unless they can find that the headlights are leaking, they wouldn't replace the highlights for me as Mazda Australia would send them an invoice if the highlights are not leaking. he suggested we could go for a test drive before he checks the headlights..

We went for a test drive for checking the strange sound when accelerate and the guy did hear it clearly while he was driving. He said it seems like some airy noise and he had to contact Mazda Australia for arranging an inspection, on the way back to the service centre, he said he would order a new set of highlights and the speaker for me without looking into it..

I left my car at the dealer's service centre on Wed ( 13/07) and got it back the next day afteroon..

Issues described as below..

TRIM EXTERIOR
*Check on water in both front head lights
*Checked and found slight condensation and Large amount oil smear. Removed and
replaced both front headlights. Checked operation OK.

ELECTRICAL
*Check centre speaker in dash crackels, part instock.
*Found centre dash speaker cracling (i think he means cracking!! :D )
Removed and repaced (um.. replaced) centre dash speaker.

ENGINE MINOR
*Check and rectify noise under acceleration
*Roadtested with Mazda Australia. Recomended replacement of spark plugs with
modified version, to reduce exhuast gas emissions. Replaced plugs with modified
plugs. Roadtested OK

All replacement were done under warranty..

However.. the noise still exists and the guy at the service centre told me that it is normal for the RX8....

you seem to have alot of problems

how long u had the car for???

Ask the service guy to explanin what the noise is if its normal, ie what causes the noise.

Alternatively ask him to take you for a drive in another 8 and show you the same noise in that car.

I better check the seat noise if it continues - seems to be fixed by now

It's always so hard to describe noises and certain other problems in print. Perhaps those who attend the nationals can raise these kind of things with other owners present so they can compare notes more effectively. Maybe a short 'strange noise' session - could be both informative and funny.

aa@uow, I am curious how you are going with this?

OK what I was trying to get at was that if you aren't satisifed that everything is OK then your service guy hasn't done his job properly. Go back to the service guy and get him to explain what the actual problem is. Saying it is normail is one thing, being able to explain what it is and why its normal is the hard part. Get him to keep explaining it until you understand what he is saying. Take what he has said and bring it back here and the myriad of technical geniuses will put ther 2 cents worth in and help you on your way.

The service guy told me that Mazda Australia 'think' it was the compression problem and the noise was coming out from the exhuast....

I've had the car for about a year and it's done 13000kms...

auzoom 07-20-2005 04:41 AM

They think it "was" the compression problem? that implies that its gone away?
