I have a new car ;) - still have the RX-8...

WOW - what a car this is...

http://www.4rotor.com/m5/bmw-m5-06.jpg

It handles as well as the RX-8, stops as well, it weighs probably 600-700 kg more, will do 11 second quarters, and 320km/h - it is an unbelievable car to drive!

BUT - believe it or not, it is worse than the RX-8 on fuel!!! :yelrotflm but only just!

Crikey Glenn...that's a low blow :p:

There's many of us here that ...er...lust after M3's and 5's...and you go and rub our noses in it. :tear:

The only saving grace is that the yellow light in the photo makes it look a lot less than desirable...oh, and the fact that, IMO, Chris Bangle's 'blade' design style detracts from an otherwise classic sedan :dunno:

Otherwise...enjoy....put up a better pic when you get a chance...and tell us what sort of times it'll do on some knoewn tracks (you ARE going to track it ocassionally, I hope? :boink: )

It is really meant to be my Tow car for when my 4rotor will be ready in the next 24 years or so!!!!!! :)

4rotor 11-06-2005 04:20 PM

You go girl!

BMW guys don't mind me mentioning all my Rotary Powered cars on their site - actually they are quite interested.

timbo 11-06-2005 05:00 PM

Hmm...that sound...all those moving parts :Drooling_ :Drooling_ (mixed between envy and pity)

So this is your ENGLISH car! (notices complete absence of natural light which would show real colour of car) Aha...at least you can take it to the continent and let it have its head :crying:

Well, as I mentioned in another thread, seeing as how you have an A/T 8 (I assume with MoTeC) and you're away for periods of time, why don't you put it to Hymee as a test bed for his twin screw s/c?? :boink: :boink:

4rotor 11-06-2005 05:06 PM

hehehe! yeah - would be nice, but I'm trying to put all toy money into the 4rotor - and it TAKES A LOT OF TOY MONEY! :(

Im_DANomite 11-06-2005 05:37 PM

so i take it that the car is still under the "break in" mode? when do you have to take it back to activate all 500HP?

rotarenvy 11-06-2005 05:51 PM

nice car. 11sec in a heavy car means some serious HP 8)

EZZY 11-06-2005 06:38 PM

Zephyr 11-06-2005 10:40 PM

Cheers all,

Im DANomite
It’s default mode is actually P500 (there are 3 modes, P400, P500, P500Sport). Even 400 is pretty awesome!

Rotaryenvy
Yes – it moves for a big car, and it is very nimble also.

EZZY
Yep – let me know when you are next over, I’ll take you for a run.

Takahashi
Cheers mate, yes – car is on the Eurotunnel train. It is great, only a short trip though (40mins) no crazy 310km/h like on the passenger trains.

Gomez
I’m on a different BMW forum

Capncrunch
Cheers!

Zephyr
I love the SMG, it is brilliant. It is almost exactly the same as having a manual with a clutch – there is hardly any difference in the way the mechanics work behind it. There are cool little things the car does like hold the brakes for you if you are on a slight hill where you might roll backward. Auto throttle blip on downchanges etc. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but after driving - it is what I have ALWAYS wanted in a gearbox – haven’t tried launch control yet, maybe tomorrow! as I just had the first service. 8250rpm here we come!

EZZY 11-11-2005 02:56 AM

thanks Glenn.
which country did you get it from? what was the saving?
when we were looking at the porka carrera 4s, i was told we could save upto 5000/6000 pounds if we bring it in from germany....

ps. whats the progress on the FD?

timbo 11-11-2005 03:51 AM

In UK, the deal used to be to buy in Holland -- massive savings albeit with a bit of a wait to get RHD. Get this: even Jaguars and Range Rovers were cheaper to buy there

playa78 11-12-2005 11:49 PM

wow. what an awesome car :D
congrats on your new purchase. ;)
