Grinding noise... Clutch Plate?

1 Attachment(s)
G'day, majjic here, I'm new just recently took delivery of a 2003 6 Speed. I have noticed an odd grinding noise when in idle unless the clutch engaged (less noise in gear with clutch engaged). Car drives and handles well and I do love it, just courious about the noise.

Thanks in advance.

Side Note: also wondering about a stereo kit in Australia to fit a double din head unit with a control box.

Again Thanks

Congrats on the purchase.

The noise is the throttle body noise and it is normal.

what you mean by "clutch engaged" is when your foot stepping on the pedal? or when the clutch is not touched at all?

if the sound is gone as soon as u step on the pedal, its input shaft bearing. I heard from a few mechanics that its quite a common "problem" in rx8

if the sound is gone when u leave ur foot off the pedal, its clutch release bearing, could be from your aftermarket clutch/fitment by mechanic

There is a lot of rollover gear noise with the transmission in neutral and the clutch out..

It happens when my foot is off the clutch and in neutral.

Thanks everybody!
