Mazda have just spend quite a few million $$$'s updated the Series II with all the technical improvements and body work change.

The Series II is not even a year old, I have Never known Mazda to face-lift and then completely replace a model with an all new one in less than 2 years..

It just does not make economic sense.

The way the car industry is I am very pessimistic we will see any new rotary for some time..

They are not selling what they have already got.

I would say we will see very few new models of any car.
With all the unsold inventory sitting on docks and factory lots I suspect they will re-plate current models to next year.

Not much is going to change until the economy turns a bit.

Agreed. Can't see a new RX8 for at least another 2-3 years...

This has not only been a tough day, but it has been the toughest week of my life.

First, I had to come to terms with the fact that I was selling my beloved RX8. This afternoon it was sold and driven away to the detailers - perhaps I'll never see it again. The bittersweet pill of a $24.5K cheque softened the blow.

I must admit it wasn't as hard as the hit I took over the weekend when my father passed away on the farm north of Lismore. His funeral was on Tuesday, and I held the role of co-organiser and officiating as MC. That was tough.

At any rate is was not only a very sad occasion, but it was a very appropriate one which was well represented from family and friends as far away as Cairns and Melbourne.

After nearly three years of owning one of the most wonderful cars in the world, it's now time to say goodbye to everyone, and say thank you.

Your help and assistance has been second to none and I don't regret the experience one little bit.

We picked up our 2009 Grand Vitara and I must say I'm very impressed with it so far, but there won't be a day I'll miss the 8.....or my dad.

I am really sorry to hear about your dad...it really makes one think, I do all the time, my father is 84, my mum 82, my dad is not in good health, they both look after my 58 yo brother who has had his legs amputated 5 times and is permanently in a wheel chair, devoted parents.
They only live around the corner from me, so I am reminded very often.

Trev, I have NO Idea what it will be like and how you handle the loss of a close loved one.....it has yet to happen to me.

Yeah, I know Death is part of life, and all that.....

I am also sad to hear that you have sold your 8...you have been a good friend to ALL forum members, I really hope you hang around at times you don't have to leave completely you know.

I also sold my car today for a slightly higher price than yours ,:) and i also lost my 86 year old father in August 2008 his death was expected , but i am finding it hard as i have also lost one of my best friends to Motor neurone disease and he was only.... 53 this february 2009

I attended his funeral 10 days prior to going to Vietnam / Cambodia for my overseas trip .

Seeing his look alike father whos aged 85 at Steves ( dead at 53 ) funeral was devastating .

Both his father mother , mother and father in law outlived him .

Too loose someone so young and in such a herrendous wasting disease , seeing him suffer everyday of his life has certainly had an effect on me .

Unfortunately i have lost 9 close friends work associates in the last 23 years , my own sister tells me shes happy to be my sister and not to be one of my close friend as i have had such bad luck in the friends stake .


When i arrived in Hoi an Vietnam i looked up my lonely planet book and ramdonly picked a hotel called... Thanh Xuan Hotel upon arriving there and booking in i was handed a bussiness card and a tourist map of the area told that the hotel had a recent change in name to ........................Long Life Hotel .

The weirdest thing is that at our funerals our custom is to wish all the griefing family friends ............." A LONG LIFE "

I was totally amazed at this coincidentall event i knew my mate Steves pommy sense of humour played a huge role in my choosing of this hotel amongst hundreds of others .

Value your friends and family for they come and go far too quickly , i may seem over the top at times but my personality has been altered by past events in my life and definetely by the sudden and unexpected death of friends and loved ones .

Remenber you are only as good as your last Bonk ,:Eyecrazy: so go out there and live your life to the fullest .

Steves 2007 323i BMW COUPE with less than 6000km on it sits in his garage , he never got to really enjoy it as after getting it he lost movement to both his arms within a few months and could not drive it .

Anyhow i hope theres a lesson in my words for some of the more anal wankers on this forum .

Thanks for the kind words guys....I've learnt the hard way. It makes you wonder how life works....whether we're ready or not, it happens. It also reinforces the philosphy that we've got to make the most out of every day....which is what I'll do.

My sincere condolences for your loss Trev. I lost my Mum when she was only 55, so I know how hard it is. I also gave the eulogy, so I applaud your courage. One of the hardest things anyone has to do in life I think.

I'll be sorry to see you go from the RX8 community. Your good humour and enthusiasm has been welcome in this place and I hope you drop in from time to time so we can spar about Harleys and how crap SUV's are...ha! :lol:
