getting body kit from australia
 

hi buddy i am new to the awesome rx8 just had it less than month. i am looking to buy a full body kit very soon(front bumpers, hood, side skirt, rear bumper and spoiler)..but had no idea where and how to get them.
Had heard about the overseas dealer but they usually took about 2months to friegh...
so can anyone tells where can get a full body kit with a nice spolier from any authorised dealer or shops in australia, specificlly sydney. :wallbash:

particularlly looking at velidside version 2 (VS G1DT MODEL)
how much am i looking at????

other models are also ok, please give me an idea how to get those amazing bodykit:bowdown:

If you want original then you will have to wait. You will just have to deal with that unless you want to pay for air freight!!!!

In Australia you have companys like Jetspeed. Google Body Kits Sydney and you will get yourself far.

thx buddy, just found the websites called gt autostyle and carmate, seems i could put some work on there

also found jetspeed but quoted a price costs and arm and leg

but can you guys suggessts any good and economical mechanic that does good paint and fitting jop to the body kits?? particularlly around hurstville, sydney

How much are you actually willing to spend?? Body kits are quite expensive for a reason...and the less you pay the more you will need to pay to get it put on - As its a biiig job to get cheap body kits to fit. I used to work for a body Shop in NE Victoria, and I can tell you first hand it is much better to get genuine good quality kit parts. The inferior ones never look as good, harder to put on etc...

All original, genuine kits. Yes, you pay more and they're not local, BUT, as the guys have said, you get what you paid for.
Otherwise, Jetspeed are alright (What was the quoted price??), l have heard SSV do the mazdaspeed front bar too, although they don't advertise it. Not sure about the veliside though..

+1 on both those last 2 post. You get what you pay for so its a matter of what you are willing to put up with.

Auzoom is right, but its also to do with what the people painting it and putting it on are going to say. If you get it professionally done (Recommended..I have seen many bodykit put on and...well lets just say wind up on the side of the road) they are not going to like you if you get a cheap one. BUT alternatively, if you get a cheap one, and they put it on properly, you will be fine. Do a search for Body kits on here and see how other people have gone with cheaper kits and see what they say... :)

You could always get some cardboard and a spray can and make your own... :naughty:;)

Well yeah, but again, do you want to put your money into someone fixing a crappy fitting kit, or doing a quality paint job?

i got a quoted for the veliside2 $3000 including painting and fitting job.....but the genuine jetspeed is about $2600 paint, fit inclusive
that is little far out of the budget

if you go for Car mate ....make sure you have the back up money for your next kit..
they are unprofessional ..(NO OFFENCE )

I say save up another $1000 and do it properly.

Seek some feedback about Carmate before commiting - they have a reputation.

I am in agreeance with the others - save a little bit extra and get it right the first time.

DrGonzo is right, the best idea is actually talk to someone who has had their car kitted out with them (it doesn't need to be a rx, anything really) and see how they have gone with it over time. The thing we used to tell our customers is "we know you need to live with this kit and drive it, and when you think about it, one little thin piece of plastic is going to be subject to huge g-forces, wind, rain and roads". So you need something that is going to look good and have the ability to stay on, and you need someone good enough to put it on. You do not want them to do a bad job with it – as I don’t need to tell you what is going to happen if your kit falls off when you're doing 110km down the highway. $2000 sounds pritty reasonable – but I'm a country boi, so I presume things are going to be more expensive in the city! So not sure mate, good luck with it!

In december I imported a kit from Accolade - MS nose / eyelids and left and right vented front fenders. Very good quality.

I am waiting to break my old nose properly before putting it on.

I would be willing to release these for $1500 .. I paid around $1650 or so including transport , customs clearance and delivery.. I will post pics.. They are currnetly stealth carbon black..

the fenders are $375 ea.. I can bring them to the nats... I need to fianance some new tyres,.... and my car isalready fully vented.
I think the vents would push my car over the edge into rice boy gone wild...

I was playing around with my tune and cracked the front housing at the top dowel pin. Also had a chipped apex seal.

I had a spare engine sitting around that was basically pristine (carboned up) which was ported, lightened, balanced and had ceramic seals put in.

I haver put 2000k on the new engine but am still getting the tune right. Running purely on flash tune.

I would love to buy the fenders just dont have the finances now :(
