Fuel System Pressure

Hi Folks,

Quick one, can anyone help me with the following question. My 2003 RX-8 has just had its 300,000 km service done and the mechanic thinks the Fuel pressure regulator might be faulty as I seem to be using a bit more fuel and need to refill sooner than normal. Does anyone know where the Fuel pressure regulator is located and what is the normal running pressure?? Cheers - Wayne.

It's in the pump assembly and not adjustable...

If you have made it 300K KM then you need a new pump.....you got lucky it lasted that long :)

have a look at your long term trims.

the only way to use more fuel is to have high fuel pressure and have a rich mixture.
the engine management will compensate for this to a point and your trims should show the pcm trimming fuel.

Not going to happen. :spank:

Your going to use the amount of fuel needed by the engine load and what the ECU dictates. If fuel pressure was lower than recommended then you could loose power because of a lack of fuel pressure. If your fuel pressure is low I would recommend a new pump. As far as bad gas mileage related to the fuel pump. Nope. Lack of power, yep.
