Freaking Finally.....

yes indeedy after what seems like months, we picked up our 8 on Friday night..

It's returning to the dealer on Tuesday to have all the scratches taken out of the clear coat.. they are only minor in depth, but quite long in places ( 20 cm ish).. ( from someone having some grit on the chamois when they dried it no doubt) but definately visible under artifical light..

mistake no1- showing us the car under fluro lights.... :D I'm sure the Sales dude got a bollocking for that after we dragged the dealer principal, the pre-delivery guy, and the service manager into the workshop to have a look....

we've put about 100 km on it already(we were only home Saturday AM) ... and love it to death... DAMN it looks good...

It has however dumped a fair bit of grease on the drivers side rear wheel.. I assume the caliper slides or wheel bearings were overgreased at the factory... they can fix that on Tuesday as well..

WOW does it turn some heads...

Overalll we are very very happy..

Cheers

PS Dez.. my g/f drove it past your car yesterday when it was parked.. .. said it was pretty weird having two cars the same next to each other, esp knowing who owns it, but not having met them!!

I have sooo had it up to here with Brookvale Mazda.. they are a bunch of fucking retards.. sorry but there is no nicer way to put it..

Car goes back today to get the minor blemishes sorted..

it comes back dull as dishwater, cos the dealer principal decides he'd give us the paint protection we specifically did not want for free.... without asking... so now we have a streaky, dull car with twice the number of scratches in it...

lucky for him he's gone home, cos tomorrow he's in deep shit..

Go for him Rowds! How bloody frustrating!

BTW - we can send you a bottle of turps if you want to strip the "protection" off :)

Cheers,
Hymee.

Well it's been a looong day.. many, many phonecalls by both myself and my g/f to both brookvale mazda- who I might add were distinctly non helpful until we mentioned we had been speaking with Mazda Australia's customer relations department....

oh and I noticed three 'additional' features this morning.. there is a graze in the front bumper that was not there yesterday AM, a deep scractch on the front guard, and lots of scuffing to the plastic @ the bottom of the front door-- we are careful to lift our feet completely over this piece, so it's a dealer induced thing.

The service manager of course says it's not an issue and we can fix it, and take the paint protection off. I say no way, new car please.

I'll be sure to give out the VIN when it goes so no poor bastard on here buys it..

Oh and I have made them aware they will not be seeing the new car again. and the replacement must be delivered to another dealer for pre delivery, rather than Brookvale Mazda..

The customer relations department have stated to my g/f that if we are not satisified we should be delivered a new car :D

We are pushing that line til we get satisfaction..

they are coming to our place tomorrow arvo to inspect the car( after being told by the service manager repeatedly that it was NOT possible...it's happening...and that we can't get a new car-- this will also happen) , and drop off a temporary RX-8 for us to drive. they will then strip off the paint protection and examine the paint. I have informed them this is a waste of time, as I'm not accepting a vehicle that has had non mazda australia, and customer authorised changes made to the vehicle when it is < 140 km old..

A current affair and Today Tonight love stories like this, and if we don't get what we want by COB Friday I will be in touch with all the motoring publications, both those shows, and posting on every forum I am a member of, along with the whole story, the full names and positions of every imbecile I have had to deal with, so people can avoid dealing with these cretins..

At this stage the two people who have been very helpful and accomodating are Steve Groves @ MA, and Peter @ Mazda NSW.

Gomez it's black with leather pack, Rx-8 floor mats, rear door protectors.

At this stage I'd really like the Peugeot back.. better paint, and better quality interior, and after sales care that leaves this lot for dead...

Can't offer much in the way of advice......good luck, hope it works out O.K.

DMRH recommended West End Mazda Blacktown, not Parramatta......apparently good service and prices available there....

All the best....Gomez.

RRS 04-29-2004 01:46 AM

After a long discussion with Peter and an inspection of our car we have an understanding that it's got to be fixed, and that they'll just prepsol the car to get the crap off- which is actually a polymer based wax apparently.. and they agree it's looking shithouse.. .. and then do a very very light cut to get rid fo the scratches.. not 100% happy, but we're getting a bit over being very very angry people.. :D if we're not happy, we'll go further..

so we now have a 27 km old Titanium RX-8 in the garage to use til the black one comes back :) ... so thats 3 different ones in a week.. ours, the red one on tuesday, and now the titantium...
