No, I haven't read the article because I am not going to go and read 500 threads you have created to find which one its in. You didnt state that in your first post.
If you had read the many threads on this topic here you would understand that in the US they recommend more than just 5W-20, its specific to the climate. Have a look at your manual. Andrew |

If it is an Australian One, the Japanese (Mazda) printed book shows virtually ALL Viscosity ranges CAN be Used...depending on "your" climate. Anything from a 0W50, W50, 5W20, 5W30, 10W40, 15W40, 20W50, and so on. Mazda Rotary Oil is supplied and Made by Castrol Australia and is a 5W30 (mineral combo).. and is very pricey at Mazda Dealers. In Summer I use CASTROL GTX 3, 15W40 ALL mineral , and is the suggested oil by Castrol's website for the last REW Turbo RX-7. The 5W20 oils recommended in the USA have shown to be inadequate by private Rotary Re-builders who have been re-building all Rotary Engines including the RX-8. Excessive stationary gear Bearing Wear is the main problem, which in turn will create other problems in eccentric shaft alignment, which in turn can cause severe wearing on Apex and Corner seals, it is a snowball of problems, you DON'T want any bearings to wear. Most re-builders are recommending a higher viscosity oil of 5W30 or even 20W50 for high mileage cars. You have to remember that Viscosity in rotary engines tend to head south very quickly after a few thousand kilometres, it can also becomes diluted from fuel. |
