carpeted and semi-fitted....got to say I am very impressed! :) kudos to those who originally thought up the position for this box. Its easy to forget there was previously a space in there

Final price????

DrewMan 05-13-2007 04:00 AM

I would have opted for the other side cos thats where the driver is!

Get rid of that spare tyre!

DrewMan 05-13-2007 04:04 AM

drew, why would you put it on the drivers side?

with the spare, if I ever get rid of the spare then there will be even more room :) plus, isnt there an ADR requrement to have a spare, at least in NSW...and before I hear about the sealant solution for punctures...that is a substitute but doesnt that render the tyre un-fixable?

And what happens if he has a flat??

I would have chosen the same side he picked. Weight distribution lol

WhiteRain 05-14-2007 06:08 AM

Damn..it's a shame u don't need a 12" sub.

I have a 12" JL W6v2 in near mint condition that I'm trying to unload from my previous car's setup =(

MissyK 05-14-2007 09:59 PM

Whitey, put it in ur car ?

WhiteRain 05-15-2007 07:31 AM

It's too much hassle changing the RX-8 system..and expensive too if you want it done right. Most people go for the wire tap option which I'm not really a fan of.

Plus I'm a little poor at the moment too :(

MissyK 05-15-2007 06:22 PM

Yea, thats what I ment in few earlier posts, about the sub not coming across that clear if its just installed or like you said tapped in. The whole rewiring would cost heaps but would be done properly.

Its really ridiculas how much a bloody stereo system would cost for a car lol I still cant justify myself spendin money on that side of the car... People are like "oh do you have a sound system" umm nooooooo, they look at me like im crazy lol $5-10k on a car sound system.. hmm I could do much more for that lol But some people lke it.......... go for it. Just not my thing!

XLR83N 05-23-2007 07:36 AM

sorry to dig up an oldish thread, just wondering how this box stays in its place

DrewMan 05-23-2007 03:27 PM

superglue and duct tape lol

XLR83N 05-23-2007 04:51 PM

seriously or wot?

I think DrewMan got confused with my impending turbo mount solution ;)

Seriously though, velcro and the weight of the sub should be enough. I drove from Alexandria back home and the box didnt move a bit so that has to count for something as well.

I have seen a pic where one of the guys in the US has installed a little raised handle type thing into his boot to stop his sub box from sliding around. I'll try and find the post...

XLR83N 05-24-2007 04:08 AM

what about turning to the left really quickly, any chance of the box rolling?

RNE515 05-24-2007 04:24 AM

here's that thread: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...highlight=4080
