cd changer ate my CD's want to go MP3?

my CD player (6 disc bose) decided it didn't want to play my cd's or eject them.

after pulling the dam thing apart I found it is next to impossible to manually extract the discs without pulling the mechanism so far apart that I wasn't confident that I could put the player back together.

I ended up realigning the discs manually and then plugging the player back in and ejecting the discs one by one.

luckily this worked and the player is now empty. however since it destroyed 2 cd's I don't really want to load it again with anything but burnt discs.

MP3 ipod connectivity would be a good option at this point.

anyone have experience's or product recommendations on which ipod intergeneration kit works in .au?

no experience with Australian products but can you just add the mp3 cd reader?
I never liked the idea of having my mp3 player plugged in for fear I'd forget to disconnect it and leave a nice shiney device lying out for some amateur thief to take.

Since you took out the 6 disc, why not juts throw in the mp3 cd player?
I just burn a few albums onto each disc and I've got plenty of music lying around.

just another option...
(assuming it's available where you live and isn't TOO expensive)

thanks jedi

theft isn't a big issue where I live.

the player still works but replacing it with a new player would be an option. mazda Australia can be very expensive for these parts.

I was looking at ipod integration as it seems like a low cost fix. there is always a concern of compatibility using other countries parts, but I may just get the factory ipod integration kit.

I retrofitted the standard Mazda i-pod integration kit to my car. It was purchased from the US to take advantage of their lower pricing plus their dollar is pretty weak compared with ours right now so you should be able to pick up a bargain. I'll see if I can find where I purchased it from. Rosenthall Mazda, perhaps? I'll double check.

It works just fine with the standard head unit - the only thing that annoys me is that it will only play music from playlists, and you won't see a display telling you what song/artist you are listening to, only the playlist number (1-6, then it starts again, so the 7th playlist is displayed as #1 again) and track number.

it is good to hear the US kit works and thanks for the info about the play lists and display.

there are quite a few kits out now.
the rockford fosgate one reckons it will display the song title. although that might be very model specific
