Anyone with BHR ignition in NZ?

I'm new to rx8s and rotaries in general, but from what I have been reading on here and elsewhere new coils, leads, and plugs are probably a good idea some time soon. I am thinking of going with BHR and am wondering if any kiwis have imported them? What are your experiences with them? Is there a local alternative? Or other recommendations?

Hi There

I have imported a few things from BHR and have found Charles great to deal with, but I think you will find that by the time you look at getting their ignition system to NZ, it will end up being very expensive.
I made my own version using the same type of coils which are GMC Yukon coils.
Commonly know as D-585's.
I had to import the coils, as they are not a common coil over here and fairly common in the US.
Then I made up my own bracket to hold them which mounts to the original coil mounting bracket, this is so it is easy to put everything back to standard if I want to.
The spark plug wires are Magnacor which I also made up myself. The only differcult bit was finding plugs to connect to the factory coil plug wiring.
It would have been easier to hard wire new plugs into the factory wiring, but that would have meant I could not easily put it all back to standard.
Anyway if you are going to the RX8 Mystery tour day out, I can show you what it looks like if you are interested.

Well I need to save up untill next month, but current thinking is to go with stock coils, and plugs, and upgraded leads.

I came acros these in my search to. They are using bosch coils of some kind. Expensive but!

That kit contains an external igniter module of some kind, which has posed problems in the past for RX-8 owners. Be careful.

I'm not planning on buying that kit, just thought it was interesting that someone is doing something different.

they are actually copying an older system :)

There are so many hacks in the automotive industries that they don't even know who to copy!
