Airbag / belt tensioner light malfunction?

Hey guys,

was wondering if any of you could help with a prob I'm having.

The airbag / seatbelt tensioner warning light on the instrument panel is constantly lit up. I checked the manual and it says that when that happens, there's a malfunction and I should get it checked at the dealer asap as the airbag or seatbelt may not work in an emergency situation.

I think it may have happened after I did a 0-100 run the other week. It may have chucked a hissy fit at having to do so!

Anyone come across this problem as well? If so, what did you do? I was going to leave it till my 10,000kms service which is about 4,000kms away.

Thanks!

I've not experienced it in this car, but have in others. The previous workaround (solved my problem ;) ) was to start the car up... get out of the driver's seat and go around and hop into to passenger's seat. put the belt on, adjust the seat, get out, hop into the driver's seat. move it, belt up. Switch off and see if that solves it.....otherwise, it's a dealer job

(It's just quite embarrasing when you go to the dealer and that's what they do to resolve the problem ... embarrassing for the dealer and you :p )

Let me get this straight.... You plan on driving around for the next 4000km knowing that in an emergency, your airbags and seatbelt are probably not going to work?

Surely that is reason enough to get it checked out straight away? Even though we all think we have above average driving skills, you just never know when someone dumber than you might clean you up. Just ask TonyM.
