The pros on here recommend that we have a "real" oil pressure gauge and an oil temp gauge if we are going FI. I want to get all my gauges hooked up so I can monitor what is normal before my turbo is here. So I have an oil temp and an oil pressure gauge and now I AM LOST.

Is my assumptions right - Replace the stock oil pressure sensor with the new oil pressure sensor but then the stock one will be dead and not look good. Right? Also where is the stock sensor, around the oil filter? Would anyone that has more expertise than I take a look at something I found on google http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/s.../oilgauge.html It is a dual oil pressure setup, for a nasty mustang though. Is this a good idea, would it work on our 8s?

Okay so now i hope someone has offered some advice on the oil pressure gauge. Where does the oil temp sensor go!?

Please anyone that has done these gauges, help me! I promise to do a DIY on mine but I am totally lost at this point

Wrong, the stock pressure sensor does not get replaced. Below is the picture of where it's located. For the greddy kit, you'll have to unscrew it and place a T-fitting between it for the oil supply line to the turbo.

For installing a oil pressure/ temp gauge, you have to get a "filter sandwich" , available from japanparts.com ($110) . It goes between your oil filter and has two ports (1 for pressure/ 1 for temp), it's got plugs if you only use 1 port. Got mine last week. I plan to put it in on the next oil change I do (2 more months) .
The first 2 pictures are somebody else that posted in a earlier thread. Mine is the last 2 pics. The gauge should come with the attachment.

On the topic of gauges, has anyone installed a water temp gauge yet? Any pointers on where to splice in the temp sensor?

The top hose runs along the passenger fender, and there is a great place where two hoses join at a metal coupling, it's just behind and under the battery.

as for the water temp sensor..i hooked mine into the upper-radiator hose..you have to remove teh battery to get to it. i put the sensor right be for the thermostate.

you can get teh sensor attachment for the water temp guage from japanparts.com as well...i think i paid like 30 buck or so (not more than 40). good luck.

lol sorry i should've don e a DIY when i put mine in a few months ago...but my camera was being serviced .

For the water temp sensor, I've seen a hose that replaces one of the radiator hoses but provides a place for the sensor to screw into. Can't remember where I saw it, but a google search is how I originally came across it. As far as oil pressure, wouldn't it be better to place that sensor right at the turbo since that is where you are most concerned?

It's a "Blitz cooling performer" found here.
It's sitting in my garage now. That's what I'll be using to hookup my sensor, I've just been too busy to do it.

cool..i saw that when i did mine....but it was a lill too much for me so i went the cheap route

post pics when you put it in..hehe i wanna see how it looks (well how it looks from teh small amount you can see from teh engine bay)

He probably cut the hose and used a T fitting.

My water temp gauge finally came in. I'll put it in next week.

Pics of how it attaches. I'll take more when it's in. I doubt you can even see the hose with the battery in.

Although it looks like a nice piece, I have my doubts about the company. You are not supposed to use slotted clamps on silicone hose--the silicone squeezes through the slots. You are supposed to use lined hose clamps or t-bolt clamps.

I got the water temp gauge/ hose installed. The silicon does squeeze through a bit on the clamps but nothing to be concerned about. Took me about 1hr 30min to get it done.
You can barely see the hose after the battery is put back in.

Got my sandwich plate put in for the oil pressure sensor. Not to hard. The disk is free spinning, so you can tighten the sensor onto it outside the engine bay.
Checked for leaks and everything looks tight.

I have the JDM MS guages, oil temp, oil pressure and water temp. the water temp sensor mounts in a metal coupling located under the battery just to the right, it actually comes w/ a relacment part that has a mount hole welded into it. easy install. oil temp sensor fits in a replacement drain plug. oil pressure sensor mounts similar to oil temp sensor but the bolt is in the end of some part located just below the brake booster. hope that helps, i have pics but they are too big to post.

Hey guys, just installed my oil filter sandwich and oil pressure sensor like adrian did above. Had a question though, I have the DEFI BF oil pressure gauge which measures in bars. So does my boost gauge. So is the conversion the same as it is for the boost gauge, roughly 14.6 psi per bar? Also how many bars should the engine have in oil pressure, just a range? thanks

Now, so what is the standard accepted oil pressure for our eights? mine goes to around 1 bar at idle, seems low to me but I have nothing to base it own. Any input?

The oil pressure should be 50.8psi at 3000 rpms and 212F oil temp.
