Heya! Just found this thread - don't usually venture over here lately.

FYI, here's a pretty big thread that I started a while ago for sc folk...

https://www.rx8club.com/se-rx-8-forum-30/sc-smiling-faces-5845/

There are a few other littler ones.

So, anyway, yeah, I live in Lugoff. So far I just added CZ stage 1 and some Polak decals. Pretty tame on mods so far. I really do like the car a lot as-is, so I'm being careful and deliberate with them I guess.

Columbia here. I've had it since last September, but no mods yet... Like Racer, I really like this car as-is, so I'm being very particular about deciding what to do and in what order. Even stock, it makes my previous BMW's and turbo Volvo's feel like top heavy bricks. As the sig says, mine is black.

Maybe we could plan on a get-together somewhere - sometime. The SC RX-7 guys do it every month. I didn't get to one of those yet, got real close to though, twice or 3 times. My son has a '91 RX-7. They want to meet me & my RX-8 too. Perhaps we could just try to go to one of those. They meet at different locations around the state - plan things on thier forum. They must have plans by now for August - although I don't know those plans yet. They have grown kind of thin lately & would enjoy the shot in the arm we could provide to their ranks...

OK, here's a quick list of SC RX-8 owners. (That's South Carolina - not SuperCharged - darn!) If I missed anyone, holler!

Racer X-8 (me )
silverrx
mtpot1
Tigerfootball
Carolina8
EatMyBanana
Durahl
jtdwab
starnes
spasso
theedge
Rotarian_SC
DrivenBySpeed (owns in Hilton Head, lives in Gainsville, FL)
waldo (shelby, nc but regularly is in Charleston, services his at Vic Bailey in Spartanburg)
Kurt Bob
scott_the_sock
amanda'sRX8

Adding NC folk to our number would add a lot - maybe later?

and RX-7 owners known to be on this forum:
MRX_Rotary ('91 FC and my son :p)

When my son or I get the August info, you will get a pm and it will be posted here as well.

I'll edit this post with any new names as they come to me too... an effort to keep the list in one piece.

OK?...

Racer X-8, thanks for adding my name. i did not responed to this post at first, because i have no mods yet. So guys if you see a yellow in Charleston, Mt.Pleasant or Westashely its most likely Me. I have the touring package with moonroof wind guard and spoiler. Want to add black starkes , rear rotary accent , rear aero flares, exhaust finishers, front splash guards and grill trim wing. I also want to paint calibers and center caps black. Dam i better get to work.

A GA Owner With an Idea

I live in Augusta, and work in SC. Next weekend is the Solo Spectacular put on by Central Carolinas region of SCCA at CMP in Kershawhttp://www.ccrscca.com/ . See the link for details.

I plan to be there with my Winning Blue RX-8. Entry forms have to be received by August 4th however.

I'd like to see some others make it out there.

Wow and holy crap! I didn't know about this and I live pretty close to it. I am going to really want to be there. Two problems though, the things I already have planned - and also, the ungodly high spectator pricing. No way I'm gonna enter the racing this time. Hope to see you out there - anybody else???

The RX-7 guys are draggin lately, my son got something tentatively planned with them - something about Frankie's Fun Park in St. Andrews area, northwest Columbia. Details to follow shortly.

Sorry I didn't even turn on my computer all weekend - one of those weekends...

Argh! Slight schedule conflict - gotta miss Fudruckers. Will definitely catch-up with the gang about 8:00. My guess, that'll be right about when it's time to head over to Frankie's Fun Park. No major loss, I'll grab a bite there. (Details written in that RX-7 club thread...)

I'll do my best to make it, at least to Fudruckers. We're having a big send off Saturday evening for my nephew... he's headed off to the Air Force to be an Air Traffic Controller.

I'll never fly again.

Hope to see some of you there.

So, the below PM was sent to the list. Anyone can come - NC, GA, FL, whatever. Why not? Short notice for sure...

Let's try keeping this going for every month.

South Carolina RX-7/8 meeting

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This Saturday, 08-07-2004 07:00 PM to 11:30 PM
South Carolina RX-7/8 meeting. Just for fun. West Columbia / St. Andrews area.

Starting at Fudrucker's for some grub, then on to Frankie's Fun Park.

Significant others are welcome to join-in. We're combining with the SC RX-7club folk, at least for this time. Come on and meet your fellow SC rotary types.

Details and arrangements for it are in this thread...

edit: oh, hey there Scott! Mine's going in tomorrow for it's routine service. She'll be 1 year old on Friday. Please try to come just so we can meet you - The non-rotary car will be overlooked this time :p if need be. Whew though, I thought for a minute you were talking about your engine rotors!

Well, 3 of us forum members went. Me, my son MRX Rotary and Scott_the sock. Scott & I were accompanied by our wives. As planned, I was a bit late, but caught-up with the clan while still at Fuddruckers. In all, some 25-30 strong - my guess.

And, yes, we all enjoyed the evening. The RX-7 group is well established and have become close friends. It was great to be included, and, we newcomers from here were indeed included warmly. Nice.

Major events at Frankies included a game of laser tag and a go-kart race. Hehe.

I think I can speak for all of us, we hope to continue with this on a monthly basis.

Word of caution, this group is for the young and the young in heart. If you are old old, you won't enjoy yourself with this group a whole lot.

I have recieved about 5 p.m. replies which all gave various reasons for not being able to attend. It was very short notice. Sorry. If you couldn't make it, no problems - understood. We will try again soon. Very soon. Some talk even about another for August. Dunno right now. But when I find out, so will you. K?

Regards, y'all.

edit: Oh yeah, going to Frankies Fun Park, I took the Piney Grove Road exit and went just like Mapquest shows, but found Frankies to be on the other side of Harbison Blvd. stupid mapquest! and Nieto's 1st gen Rx-7 FB was emitting major smoke bombage. Uh-oh... and a cop came by in the parking lot to see if he needed to call for a fire truck! :D

edit again: Word is, Carowinds is next. Oh Christ! :p

LOL

They're all a trip, but I think Matt got the prize for "most off the wall crazy dude". Some others ran a close 2nd place for it though...

New to the Forum

Hey everyone. Got a Velocity Red here in Charleston. Don't see that many around town but I know there are 3 others (yellow, red, & black) on the AFB. How'd everyone fair with Gaston this weekend? Hope Frances stays far, far away.

Hey!

Gaston was a gentle soaking rain for me.
Frances looks to be a nasty one. Keep your eyes peeled & be ready to evacuate to some place far away! If it turns into another Hugo, even Columbia is too close for comfort. Welcome to the forum!
