Could you be so kind as to list out the all the paint codes for the 8? I have a Brillant Black and was sent a bottle of black with paint code PZ. I don't remember specifically, but the paint code on my door is NOT PZ. Can you enlighten us all?

Sure no problem!
The first thing to remember about Mazda paint codes is that the paint code on the door jamb is usually not the same as the touch up paint code...The paint code on the door jamb is what Body Shops and such use to order paint from paint vendors or to obtain the paint formula to mix the paint themselves.
Anyway, the following is a list of the body paint codes from the door jam and the corresponding touch up paint codes.

Marshall, since when did Mazda stray from their paint codes to be different from their touch up codes? I own a 99 10AE Miata and the paint code on the door is 20P and the touch up code is 2P (non clearcoat). I know that''s a little off, but not like the codes for the 8. Just curious and thanks for the info...

Back in the good old days...up to about 1993 I think, the codes were the same. after that sometimes they are similar like yours but most of the time they are not.

This looks to be what Mazda is calling a Prime+ gun Metallic.

They do have this in all the body colors also.

 

so how would i tell a body shop to paint it? would i tell them prime metallic?

 

These come also painted to match the factory paint. The one on the picture looks to be a non painted one. A body shop could paint it any color you would like.

 

I do not agree with what you are saying. The Mazdaspeed bodykits dont have unpainted plastic rear diffusers. This part of the rear bumper is definitely painted. I have seen a silver one and a gray one in person and they are both painted the same color. The top area of the bumper is painted the normal body color. I just need the paint code for that area because I will be painting my rear diffuser the same color. Thanks

Thats a good question. Mazda has not sent any info to dealers. Only thing we got was a new price book with part# and prices. It is only giving us colors which I thought was one color but that one is a two tone looks to be but not 100% sure

Someone had some pics from the car that was in Irvine Ca at Mazda headquarters but I cannot find the tread.

 

So if I were to paint my car at a body shop, I would tell them 27B? or 27B 94? which one? I dont want to get this mixed up. I thougth the paint codes would be longer than that..
