Does the Mazdaspeed front bumper look right alone?

Hi guys, this is my first post. I'm currently waiting to pick up my new Stormy Blue 2007 and I'm spending my time looking at accessories. Does anyone have a picture of a car with just the Mazdaspeed front bumper? I'm wondering if it would still look good without the side skirts and rear. These parts are expensive enough without having to buy them all at the same time!

Personal oppinions are welcomed.

Nah, buy it all, or not at all. That would look all rice, MS or not.

The rear doesn't matter at all. worse case, get the splash guards for the rear and the lines will flow better. I've seen OEM MS rear and I have no desire at all to get it.

Without the sideskirts.... it will look a bit funny if you stare at it, but generally speaking, it's not too bad.

I actually own the sideskirts, just haven't installed them yet... so I've been this way for at least 6 months:

My advice, if you get anything that "hangs" lower than stock. Invest a few hundred bucks in 3M clear protection for them. In the long run, it'll keep your body safe'er from rock chips, etc. The back isn't as important as the side skirts, IMO. Some people mix and match kits all the time. Makes 'your' kit more unique and 'custom.'

2 cents.

IMO, having just the MS front makes the rest of the car look out of proportion. It's not an overly aggressive bumper, but it does hang lower than the stock sides. I have just the MS sides on right now, and I think they match the OEM front spoiler and rear appearance pieces pretty well. I plan to get the MS front, but in the meantime, I think the car looks great this way.

yeah i want to get the MS sides with the stock package soon. I just saw a black 8 with just the MS front and it does look great. yeah a little lower then the middle of the car but he had all the stock app parts as well so it looked pretty good. aftermarket rims and a drop as well wont hurt.. as soon as i download the images i will post them.

if you have something up front, you gotta have something in the middle. the rear for our car is insanely high of the ground too, but it can do without something there.

With the MS front, at minimum you should have the side aero flares with front mud guards. At MINIMUM! But highly suggest a full side. I still think the MS front + sides, without the MS rear looks off.

Here are some BB pics I collected from other sites, as well as from this forum:

- MS front only: (too "front heavy" IMHO)

- MS front with OEM side aero flares: (acceptable, especially if you have the front mud guards)

- MS front, sides, rear, no spoiler: (I agree with the others, it's either all or none; my pick would be without a spoiler)

- MS complete with OEM spoiler:

- MS complete with MS spoiler: (I think the MS spoiler is a little top heavy myself)

Here is a pic of my car with front splash guards, rear and side aero flares.

It looks fine like that but there are times I want more complete on the sides. Just hadn't found a set that I liked (the Mazdaspeed sides can seem too plain).

This spring I will be installing the Veilside D1-GT sideskirts to go with the Mazdaspeed front bumper.

Thanks for all the help guys. Its true, the front looks a little low without the sides. Its a shame the kit looks so good. Anything else and I wouldn't bother trying to justify the price.

But if you look at the stock appearance package the front bumper is lower than the sides.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I remember reading that the MS sides are lower than the bumper. Why would they do that?

I was wondering that as well. I was thinking of just getting the MS side skirts but will they be much lower than the stock front and rear bumper?

they will be lower than the stock w/ front air damn. if you already have the apperance package, then the sideskirts will be ok. a tad lower because of the gray lip of the ms sides. for rear, if you have mudguards or aeroflares, it'll work.

on stock w/o appearance package... it wont' look right at all.

They look about the same level to the eye, but according to some pics from japanparts.com, the skirts are actually lower by between 6 and 10 mm... strange.

Maybe it's part the optical illusion because the front of the skirts are somewhat higher off the ground the the rear?

It could be how the stock suspension setup is, the rear could be slightly lower.

Look like BBS RGR or RS-GTs. My favorite wheel for the 8, but very expensive.

If you can't get the whole set , I would say get the sides then. Keep saving up for the rest .

i personally think the ugliest part about a stock 8 is the rear
so i also say get it all or none at all
