Yep, I am, west end . . . I haven't been poking in here much lately though. Stumbled on this thread and can't see it go with absolutely no response. There still doesn't seem to be a heck of a lot of 8s around, not sure if there are numbers to get any sort of local thing going. There has been minimal local representation at various events I have attended. The 7s seem to have a much more enthusiastic following which I can understand, there are more cars, the barrier to entry is lower and people tend to get their hands dirty with those cars either for fun or out of necessity.

Maybe someone else will chime in here, could always do a frosty after work someday . . .

I'm visiting Ottawa for work this week. I saw a VR GT in the parking lot across the way from where I am working (On Terry Fox Road, in Kanata...)

Does that happen to be anyone's car who's on the board? I'd love to get a chance to look at the headlamp washers, and related.

yea that would be cool. When I had my RSX we had group rides/meets around b&a and we would have DIY partys every so often...ever since I got my 8 i'm all alone ! lol

Hey guys! Be nice to see more RX8's out to solo 2. I have 2 neighbours with Blue RX8's haha!

Here's some info.

Show up at 8:30 the LATEST, it would be better if you show up to the ScotiaBank place around 8am. It is $40 for non-members and $30 for members. Membership is $30 so if you do 3 events it is worth joining the club as it pays for your membership and you start saving if you do a 4th or more.

You need a Helmet that is Snell 95+ rated, if you do not have one you can rent one at the event for only $5 for the day.

The even is all day and we head over to east sides at the end of the day for prizes free pizza and good times. You also get to see the results.

Come out and have a blast! You need to do nothing to your car, just take out the junk and go!

See if you can beat an S2000

Thanks KrazyKanuk for the ride! Nice to see what the 8 can do in the right hands and with some good rubber under it. From a total newbie perspective I achieved my goal of not going off course or hitting any cones during any of the runs, each run got faster but there is a LONG way to go. The driving is just a heap of fun, all the drama from those RE040s makes you feel fast even if you're not ;-) Wing doesn't need to worry about me beating an S2000 for a while, based on my ride with KrazyKanuk, the car is likely up to the challenge but not me. If I had gobs more talent, better tires and more guts I might start to eat away at the 11-12 seconds or something that separated us :-) BTW Wing, nice in car video on the MCO site.

 

Good job scoop at least you came out and learned a few things I'm sure. Every event you will improve.

KrazyKanuk was always beating me until I stepped up my game a little bit. We do have a good battle going very close in times. I believe he was .400 off my time this last event, and got 4th place.

 

Can any of you guys recommend a traffic ticket agent in or around Ottawa?

Yes, darn I woke up to my pager going off this morning which put me way behind. Then I chickened out when I saw how wet it was first thing. My stock tires are down to the tread wear indicators in places, they are so slick in the wet that I figured I would be all over the place, need to do something about that . . . I did see some nice photos of your car from today posted on the MCO site in the thread below. There are several pictures of me from the previous event, in one I actually appeared to be moving fast but it's all an illusion. Can't make it next Saturday but I definitely want to do this thing again before the season is over.

I signed up for Sunday Oct 15th, "Performance A" (novice), my guess is more driving time than Saturday, just a guess though. The thing may fill up quickly . . .

 

Would love to join that...the track looks great, some nice elevation changes.

I'm on vacation that weekend though. Let us know how the new track is compated with say MOsport DDT.

I wanted to let you know this saturday september 23rd There is a OTTAWA Mazda Cruise/BBQ .

The ottawa mazda club invited everyone , SO a few of us rotary guys are heading down also in Rx7s/Rx8s /.

Would be great for you guys to show up and have a little cruise ( aprox an hour or 2 to the BBQ location ) .

I will post In another thread . But I hope to see you guys there.

Oh and also.

October 15th ( sunday ) a few of us are heading to look at calabogie and a few track it.

 

Oh yes forgot Meeting place is Scoatia bank place / old corel center.
