Sunnyvale mazda under MSRP

Hi all -
I had a depo at Sunnyvale Mazda for an RX-8 scheduled for 2-3 week of august - it's on water at this moment. Due to a series of odd events, I ended up getting an RX-8 last night from another dealer. When I called SV Mazda to let them know, and to get the refundable deposit back, they were understanding (though disappointed).

During the conversaiton to pick up the deposit, I learned some interesting info -

SV Mazda had traded yesterday for the car I wanted in order to get it to me sooner - alas, I did not know they were doing this, or I would have stayed with them - as they have been nothing but straight with me. Then they showed me a deal for an RX-8 that they had sold for under sticker.... oh the pain. If I'd been patient one more day, I would have the same car at less $.

So be aware that SV mazda's sales Mgr says they have negotiated sales at under MSRP. They have cars in stock including a blue GT (there today) and are getting the only Green RX-8 GT that I could find in the entire Bay area - and it's now avail as it was the one I had a depo on until today.

If interested, give the Sales manager Kevin a call.

Dave

Why am I so suspicious of the dealer's claim after you bought somewhere else?

Not all car dealers are sleazy - it just sometimes seems that way.
I accept their story- I know the only Blue that Mazda showed as SV Mazda inventory and that VIN is still on the water - so it could not be the one on the lot today - therefore, the dealer trade story rings true against the facts I know.

Several dealers I have interacted with while shopping, I will simply not do business with due to the way I was treated (I'll leave the names out). But, I am comfortable with SV Mazda - never an ounce of BS from them in my interactions with Kevin.

I think they are worth a contact if you're seriously shopping. Of course "your milage may vary"...

We mention good dealers by name, why not the bad ones as well? It's always useful to hear negative experiences--who, where, what and why so we can avoid them in the future.

Dave - it looks like I put the deposit on the car you gave up. New to the forum. New to Mazda. Hope the green is as beautiful in person as it is in my head. It was released yesterday, so should be here anytime. I concur on Kevin at Sunnyvale, he has been great to work with..... so far

Great - Congrats! I just noticed this morn that my calendar still had a note that the car would arrive sometime next week.

Please let me know when you get it - I'd love to see the car - while I'm happy with my blue, I've never seen the green in person - perhaps we could meet and park em side my side for a couple of pictures?

Hi,

May I have the sales manager's phone number please?

<--- would love to buy at MSRP, or even a couple hundred under.

Been "released" almost a week and still not here. Torture. Can't sleep at night just thinking about it. Every time the cell phone rings I jump. Cleaned out the garage this weekend in anticipation. It is starting to sound like I have some sort of disorder. Hopefully it will arrive soon and I can be cured. I can't imagine waiting for months for an order to come in. Talk about a slow death. Just sharing my "pain".
