no, this is southern ca. we see pre-production cars ALL the time.
mazda hq and mazda technical center are both located here in irvine. i have seen the red one on the road. and i also saw the titanium one with auto and michagian plates when i went to the technical center.

They have a showroom in the lobby of the side building. I has big glass windows and you can look inside and see it even if you go when they are closed.
